Greensboro "Tourney Town" setting a record

The article basically states that Greensboro will be the first city to host 3 consecutive college basketball tournaments this spring (Women's ACC Tournament, Men's ACC Tournament & the first rounds of the NCAA tournament.) Its like a total of about 30 games. The Gate City may not be a town for the NBA or the NHL, but Greensboro has proven to be one of the best tournament cities in the country hosting the ACC tournaments and the PGA Chrysler Classic. Greensboro has host a number of first and second round NCAA mens' basketball games including the East Coast Regional back in 1998 and the Final Four Tournament back in 1974. Greensboro recently hosted the men's NCAA Final Four Soccer Tournament and is making strides to bring the ACC basebal Tournament to First Horizon Park in downtown Greensboro. Its obvious that the city is know for hosting tournaments and city leaders have put together a campign that includes banners thats says Greensboro is "tournament town". WHen the ACC comes back to Greensboro, the city will once again get exposure to much of the country on tv sets with skyline shots and a little info and history about Greensboro.

The ACC is trying to have a more broader appeal so it has to rotate the tournaments near other ACC schools such as Florida State and Boston College. Even though Greensboro will host the tourney less it will still host it more than the other cities. But there was a time when almost every year Greensboro hosted the tournament.
