CONSTRUCTION THREAD: McBee Station

As a Chick Fil A employer for 10+ years (both in Greenville, Tampa, and Corporate Atlanta), that area will not work. You have them surrounded downtown (Laurens, Haywood, Cherrydale) and will only get foot traffic. Yeah, we have the ones thriving in NYC that are in the city but I don't think Greenville has the population with that. I can see a Target tho. I will give the example of the Boston Target that's next to Fenway Park in downtown. Which if I did hear correctly, that used to be a Staples also :tw_tounge_wink:

So that Target is new construction from 2015. It’s friggin massive. What would work better is the Target behind my house in Medford that used to be a Johnnies Foodmaster or one of the myriad of small form Target stores around here like Central Square in Cambridge or Porter Square. The Porter Sq one is the one I frequent and it’s basically the size of the old Fresh Market on East North or two CVS stores stocked one on top of the other. If you want photos use Google Maps as they have a ton of pictures.

Circling back to this: I’m not going to challenge something that a CFA insider says, as you of course know more than I do about how CFA works.

But how did CFA propose a location on Augusta Road, basically a straight shot down McDaniel Avenue (around a mile) from McBee Station?

I still hope that Target does open somewhere in or around downtown.  Maybe once it’s done blanketing NYC and other markets with small stores, it’ll blanket Greenville with them.  I’d certainly buy more from Target locally if it were more conveniently located (going from near downtown to Woodruff Road is a pain).

They just announced a new Target  for Boiling Springs in Spartanburg County albeit a large one at almost 150,000 sq ft so it least looks like they have their eyes on a growing upstate for new locations. I'm thinking the Easley area is probably on their radar too and hopefully a  store closer to downtown as well.
