Salisbury Square Dominion NCAE Development

Since this is going to be the next big thing in downtown Raleigh it will need its own thread.   This is a great project and this developer can deliver as they have previously with the FNB Tower on Fayetteville Street.  There are some great renderings on their architect's website.

Very cool project that will essentially expand downtown's footprint a block. I agree that Dominion Realty gets things done in Raleigh, so I am optimistic this project will happen, especially since they have already submitted plans for administrative site review.

As shown in the rendering, this will have a huge impact on the skyline. One tower is planned for 239 feet and the other for 278 feet.

Seems like all of the towers announced recently have either been 20 stories or 40 stories, with a slew of the former.

Any tower built in downtown Raleigh is a win, but this city needs more height and design variation.

If I understand correctly, the one on the far right will be built first in Phase 1 along with the parking deck. Then phase 2 will be the second tower. Not sure when the 'workforce housing' wrap-around nor the hotel will be built. 

 

Phase 1 should start at the end of this year unless Covid has delayed it.

does this project include  the parcel on the other side of the railroad tracks (reachable by a bridge where Kinsey Street crosses the tracks)?  For our history folks was this area part of the poor areas that occupied the bottomlands along Walnut Creek from here southward, and the NCAE and Chamber buildings were built as part of 1960's slum clearance?  I noticed the other day that there are some very old and large trees on the NCAE property that appear to far predate the building itself...

No it's just the property bounded by McDowell, South, Salisbury, Kindley, and the railroad tracks.
