Revolution Mill Greensboro

Didnt see a category but this place is so huge and a great renovation it deserves a thread.  Some of Kontoor offices here, restaurants shops, apartments etc.  Just briefly went by and peaked in one unrenovated area of the mill.  Today.   My 30 plus photos should get this started!   I did not even go to the back side.

I have been to Rocky Mount Mills down east and I thought that was big but this is the biggest mill renovation and redevelopment I have seen.   Loray Mill in Gastonia is big but this is tall and sprawling.  Great project.

Back in Greensboro exploring my roots with my cousin stopped by Revolution Mill and my cousin and brother were blown away how good this looks.  Plus some interior shots too.  Today. 

Stopped by Yum Yum ice cream on Spring Garden St too what a great old school place.  HUGE scoops of ice cream.    

Inside of Revolution lots of history exhibits that I found fascinating.

Love Revolution Mill and the buildings are just impressive and now renovated.  Mill House is under renovation looks like it will be office and residential units.

Don't forget about the nearby historic Printworks Mill which was converted into loft apartments. Printworks was designed to offer more affordable residential options than Revolution.

Proximity Print works mill in the foreground and the Revolution mill in the background to the right. They really do need some sort of a connector greenway between the two mills with maybe even a park. There is a nearby baseball field to the right in the photo 

Proximity Mill loft apartments (btw the Proximity Hotel near Friendly Center was named after this mill including the hotel restaurant which is also called Printworks)

Both the Revolution Mill and Proximity Mill were both a part of the Cone Mills empire in Greensboro. The newest mill which is called the White Oak plant is just a little north of the two mills and is currently abandoned.

just north of the Print works mill is the White Oak plant which is now vacant. This is the third mill that was owned by Cone Mills which could one day be renovated like Printworks and Revolution. I think they should take White Oak in a slightly different direction. Yes include residential but this plant would be great for a business/research incubator with maybe some conference space. The grassy area could be turned into an outdoor events space.

 

There is a natural creek connecting the three mills which could be turned into a greenway. Basically turning the three mills into one huge complex.

@cityboithat baseball field you mentioned, is actually a softball field. Page High School used to play their softball games there, before they built their own field on campus back in 2010. Now they use it for youth and adult league softball. It's owned by the City of Greensboro.

Both Revolution Mill and Printworks both former Cone Mills.   new section of apartments going into the Mill House at Revolution Mill.  Bot h projects are great and Revolution Mill is just so huge.
