Well, the idiots who are the Florida Legislature strike again. In the latest blow for home rule (remember when Republicans insisted the government closest to the people was best? Barry Goldwater would be aghast), local tree ordinances like a model in Tampa will be invalidated by a new state law.

Nonpartisan ratings sites like the Cook Political Report and Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball are listing District 7 Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy’s seat as “Safe Democrat” for the 2020 election.

The seat in Seminole County was once so reliably Republican it was known for decades as “the Mica seat” for its very conservative occupant.

Now, Seminole is the third county in the MSA to trend toward blue. Central Florida politics have been transformed.

Dr. Lee Mangold, who narrowly lost a bid to oust Republican Rep. David Smith in FL House District 28 last year, will try again in 2020.

Last time, Mangold was outspent 5-1 and may be able to narrow that gap based on his solid finish. Democratic and  NPA turnout also tends to be much stronger in presidential election years.

The significance of a flip will be solidifying Seminole County’s move to an ever more purple electorate. This race will be one to watch.

Interesting picture of how "politically segregated" our area is. Bottom line, not very much, 78th out of 153 studied. A couple surprises for me... Wow, Lake Butler is very red and Wow, Sanford is very blue. Also, the most neutral downtownish area seems to be Lake Adair/ south Collage Park.

In a fast-moving sequence of events, the current State’s Attorney, Aramis Ayala (for Orange-Osceola) has announced she will not run for a second term.

Just as surprising, former Chief Judge Belvin Perry has announced he may run for the seat.

Stay tuned - this seat used to be one of the stodgiest elected positions in the region in the days of Robert Egan and Lawson Lamar.

Ever since George Soros contributed over $1 million to elect Ayala in 2016, it’s been a roller coaster ride.

Aramis Ayala won’t seek re-election as Orange-Osceola state attorney; Belvin Perry may enter race http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-ne-aramis-ayala-no-re-election-run-orange-osceola-state-attorney-20190528-z65rv7rmqjdqfoyxsd6rp6junu-story.html

Typical [false equivalency] response from Conservatives who claim to march for life :

It makes Dale feel better. Anyway, I’m sort of impressed folks in the Panhandle are picking up ideas from the Brits. Look at them getting all worldly and stuff!

Why it makes sense for the Very Stable Genius to kick off his re-election campaign at an arena in one of America’s bluest counties:

We used to joke that, “Atlanta’s a great city, only trouble is it’s surrounded by Georgia.” I never imagined I’d say that about Orlando and Florida but here we are.

The congressman is prescient. Brits have gone on record as musing, “Why milkshakes ? Why not battery acid ?”

So, the festivities begin at 10am outside the Am with the “45 Fest”, an all day affair.

Protests will be happening at The Stonewall just down Church St at 5pm:

Another false equivalence. It never ends with you guys lol. Dan was not referring to battery acid, he specifically responded to a tweet about Matt getting milkshaked and suggested buying guns and ammo... and later deleted his tweet after getting called out. To paraphrase your Dear Leader, I think there's blame on both sides and there are very fine people on both sides.

I was also doing fine under Obama's economy despite obstructionist Republicans who wanted him to fail; stable growth and I recovered all losses from the Bush meltdown. Trump's economy has surged thanks to tax "reform" and deregulation, but how long will it take to feel the consequences of his policies? Republicans don't seem to care about the deficit anymore and their interest in fiscal responsibility suddenly vanished lol. I don't wish ill on any president and I want the country to succeed, but we've already been down this road before and we suffered greatly under short-sighted policies.

I really wish people wouldn't protest Trump's rally. Protesters are falling into the same trap that Hillary fell for... responding and reacting on the offense instead of controlling the narrative. Instead of protesting, I'd rather host our own event at the Amway on another day that celebrates everything we stand for. Notice how they chose to host the event in blue territory? lol Just leave them be. Let them come, spend their money and gaze in awe at Liberal Utopia and then drive back to the red zone.

Personally, I’m just waiting for Mayor Pete and Chasten to come to town!

Buddy says the City will be ready for Tuesday but he’s taking a pass on being there.

He also encourages Orlandoans to show the unity and diversity we’re famous for and to welcome everyone to The City Beautiful:
