Chinook Pier in Grand Haven has received proposals. I wish there were renderings or details in the article than just one of them featured in the video.

Is it going to get NIMBYed again?

This isn't GR restaurant related, but Lakeshore related.

They focus on some new restaurants along the lakeshore that are opening, will open and some that have closed. A nice recap/review for this summer for those going to the Lakeshore.

More housing is coming to Muskegon, right next to Adelaide Pointe.

Paywall: https://www.crainsgrandrapids.com/news/real-estate/plan-for-546-housing-units-at-former-muskegon-furniture-plant-moves-forward/

"With the proposed 546 additional housing units and existing Watermark Lofts, the approximately 730,000 square feet of space on site will contain 601 housing units when completed, Parkland Properties President Jon Rooks said Thursday at the planning meeting.

Site plans call for adding 432 apartments aimed toward workforce housing and missing middle price points, 69 condominiums with starting prices of about $275,000, and 37 townhomes.

The apartments would comprise 31 studio units, 347 one-bedroom units, 44 two-bedroom units and 10 three-bedroom units. The 69 condo units would include 64 two-bedroom units and five one-bedroom units. The 37 townhomes would all have three bedrooms and two-car garages facing Muskegon Lake."

Grand Haven adds a brewery/distillery

Paywall: https://www.crainsgrandrapids.com/news/restaurants-1/grand-haven-couple-converts-long-vacant-auto-shop-into-postmodern-brewery-distillery/

"Kurt Knoth will lead the brewery, alongside a local brewer who will bring professional experience. He expects Off the Chain’s beer lineup to include Ike’s Brew, a stout named after one of the family’s dogs, an IPA, and a lager brewed in the style of Yuengling. The company’s line of spirits will feature a speed-aged rum, plus gin, vodka and bourbon."

A nice roundup on three projects on the Lakeshore in Grand Haven, Port Shelon and Holland.

https://www.crainsgrandrapids.com/news/real-estate/3-lakeshore-communities-lean-on-private-partners-for-major-waterfront-projects/

"In Grand Haven, the city council is set to choose a private partner next month to redevelop the city’s 3.4-acre Chinook Pier property downtown. Farther south, Port Sheldon Township is working with various partners to gather feedback on future redevelopment opportunities for a Consumers Energy coal plant set to be decommissioned next year. At the southern border of the county, Geenen DeKock Properties Group LLC continues to work through necessary environmental approvals to construct an expansive mixed-use project on city-owned, lakefront property in Holland."

The piece goes into detail for each project.

A new brewery coming to downtown Saugatuck.

Having visited the area a few times recently, I did notice this building sitting empty on a prime spot in town. Glad to see it will be filled with something that will contribute to the town and the walkability.

https://www.crainsgrandrapids.com/news/restaurants-1/new-saugatuck-brewery-plans-march-opening-in-historic-downtown-building/

"The owners expect to open the brewery in March 2025 with an outdoor biergarten and a full kitchen. While plans for the brewery remain in the preliminary stages, the partners plan to brew on-site and rely on a contract distiller to source vodka, bourbon and gin for the business."

More housing coming to Grand Haven, specifically downtown.

https://www.crainsgrandrapids.com/news/real-estate/developer-proposes-demolishing-downtown-grand-haven-building-for-new-residential-project/

"The project proposes to demolish the Fredricks Insurance Agency LLC-owned two-story, 13,260-square-foot Forum building and replace it with a new nearly 50,000-square-foot building, dubbed Forum Lofts.

Initial plans call for a covered parking garage on the first floor with three floors of residential units above. Common areas in the building could include an upper floor deck or club room for tenants."

The council has chosen CopperRock.

Indoor Farmer's Market, space for vendors, retail space and green space. It was chosen over a new Grand Haven Children's Museum space from Cherette Group.

Yeah, but it's just accusations from the GOP. They've played that game and been debunked far too many times to take seriously anymore. They cried wolf too many times

Yeah they're all conspiracy theories.
