Greenways in Sparkle City

Duncan Park Path extension is paved.  It goes behind the Stadium outfield wall, then next to the parking lot, then on the path of the old rubberized trail.  It still dumps people out somewhat unceremoniously at Union Street, so hopefully crossing improvements will come in the future. (saw that a vehicle hit 3! power poles in a row near the dog park).

The SC House 2024-25 budget contains a few earmarks for trails (page 202): $455,000 for the Mary H Wright Greenway (This is in addition to funding from last years budget. I believe it's for the connection south to Schoolhouse Lofts.) and $2 million for the Daniel Morgan Trail System (not sure if this has a specific use yet).

P&C article with a few trail updates.  PAL is pursuing funding right now for the Hub City Hopper extension, which includes the protected path on DMA and will also include Magnolia and College Streets.  Once PAL has all the funds in hand, then they hope to start work this fall.  It will connect the Hopper to Beaumont and the Northside.

Extending Mary H Wright Greenway from Marion to Caulder is also planned to start in the fall.

Construction of the RAISE grant trail along Fairforest Creek is projected to begin construction in early 2025.
