  1. Crane is going up at Grubb's Link apartments.
  2. I live right across from it now, and trust me they are working on it daily, just seems groundwork is very slow. They are pouring the ground level floor now, and are about to pour Crossmembers, which will start the second floor soon. I am woken up by the damn whistles every day at 6 when they start the crane.
  3. My brother owned a unit at Hoskins Mill. It was a great idea, but in a neighborhood that doesn't have any real potential, and they did a pretty basic job with the units themselves. That being said, I would have much rather seen Savona mill turned into residents and Hoskins as office space. Total shame for both.
  4. Am I the only one disappointed that these won't be turned into cool warehouse residential lofts? The area is fast becoming the latest gentrified part of town, but most of the new development are modern townhouses and fixed up bungalows, but Charlotte has so little cool warehouse condo space, and frankly this section seems too deep in the neighborhood to serve as commercial office space. I just feel they missed the mark here. It's large enough that they could have even done a mix of both. Guess I should just be happy it is finally being fixed up at all.
  5. It totally looks like some cheap corrugated fence. I am so disappointed with that project, from what the initial design was supposed to be.
  6. Houston is a perfect model of how not develop a city. The lack of zoning and planning resulted in one of the ugliest modern cities of our time. The signage alone off the highways is enough to make you turn around and head back to the airport. There are a bunch of infill townhomes that are trying to improve the hosing options closer into the city, but many of them are riddled with poor build quality issues such as leaks and poor foundations that settle and Crack, which is easy with how swampy the soil is there. I for one would never invest in owning anything there, as it is very likely going to be a victim of climate change in the near future. Not a good investment at all. Lean from Houston's mistakes!
  7. Happy Friday everyone! Ground work is really moving at Spectrum. Fence is up around the lot for Grubb Link apartments.
  8. I am still pissed they didn't even try to stay with this awesome design. The tower we got is such a let down compared.
  9. This is going to be my exact view. Wasn't at all worried about the back yard. Most townhouses don't even have ground level patio space when they have garages. I'll be spending most of my outdoor time up here.
  10. I miss the green neon piping around the top of One Wells Fargo, before they switched to the white lighting from inside the glass. I wish they would go back to the piping style lights with color changing LED's like BofA Dallas. The current lighting just never looked classy since the dome isn't very interesting under the glass. Side note, try finding a single picture of it on Google. Seems all photos of it have been forgotten.
  11. I would have made Dot walk. LOL. It's not that far.
  12. Came across this article. Interesting read! https://www.washingtonpost.com/magazine/2020/07/13/pandemic-has-shown-us-what-future-architecture-could-be/?arc404=true
  13. Thanks for these pics QCxpat. Can't be there to follow the construction in person, so glad to see the pics here. They are really starting to take shape. Can't wait to see the new hood when complete!
  14. It's going to ruin the buildings clean sharp lines for sure. Ugh.
  15. I think it's time the city starts looking at a street car connecting the light rail line to Northlake / I-77 running down the middle of Harris.
  16. I have terrible scars from a pretty heinous motorcycle accident at that exact spot. My best friend had almost the same exact motorcycle at that spot two years prior. It's so dangerous!
  17. I know this is going to sound weird, but I kind of like the smell of smeltered iron, grew up in the NY area and it was somewhat of a normal thing. But I definitely won't miss it when it goes away. The train on the other hand might be irritating.
  18. Thanks! It was the brick that kind of sold me. They told me it will be white brick, but not actually sure if it will be painted, or prestained from the brick factory. Only thing I am worried about is how much view I am going to lose from the Spectrum apartments being built across the street.
  19. I Actually am buying one of them. I am lucky I signed the paperwork on opening day. The unit I got shot up 80k the next day. They sold 19 of the 31 units that day.
  20. Unless he has changed his original plan, the builder who some good friends of mine are close with has said this was going to be a 17 story project. I don't know if Conformity group can command the financing needed for such a project, but at least it shows high aspirations!
  21. not going skiing this thursday as I had originally planned ;(
  22. does anyone have the origanl rendering of this project from when it was announced 3 years ago? I am just curious so that we can compare when the next rendering comes out.

easy there uptown, he must not loose focus on what aspects of J&W we are appreciating here

Unfortunately Nostyle, the few building you were talking about on trade are likely to fall victim to the wrecking ball, and ironically, due to J&W's influence on that side of town. i believe the school agreed to purchase the land, but only if the buildings were demolished. Yes they are historic buildings, but I guess they don't fit into the plans of J&W, and maybe that is a good thing. They seem to be doing pretty well so far with what they are building.
