My understanding is the arena will beak ground in August is this right?Anyone have exac t date?

  2. It may be time to start a thread just for the Citrus Bowl.

Rhodes+Brito Architects will begin work on the $175 million, multi-phased project next month. The company will partner with HNTB Sports, a national firm that specializes in stadium renovations.

  3. just received this today:

    January 30, 2008

Hello, we wanted to keep you informed on the progress of 55 West as a follow up to the previous press release.

Grosse Pointe Development, the new Developer, is in process of making great decisions for the tower. At this point, it is looking very likely that the tower will be turned into mixed use with the West side being converted to a hotel. For the buyers who bought on the West side, you would be moved to an equivalent unit type on the East side, which is viewed as more desirable. A great asset is that the hotel would provide a variety of services which would be available to the condo owners. The two sides would be separate and exclusive to each use, but condo owners would benefit from shared amenities and services. This type of project has worked very well in many downtowns across the country.

We appreciate your patience as to there are still many details to be determined. We will definitely keep you informed.

Grosse Pointe anticipates residential condo closings to begin in the last quarter of 2008. Buyers can receive deposits plus interest back at this time and or with the release of the new condo documents within the next few months. If you wish to keep your contract, the Developer will honor your original contract. We will work with you individually for the placement of your condo once we have all the proper information.

Grosse Pointe Development has great expertise and success in building high rise condominiums and mixed-use projects. They are definitely an asset to this project and Orlando. Together with their professionalism, knowledge and experience, our team is the committed to making 55 West a great place to live and a landmark in downtown Orlando. At this time, we are trying to get a count for the Developer so that they can make the proper decisions as to those who would like to cancel or keep their contract. Please email: [email protected] or [email protected] with your intent. We know that many of you have contract prices that are below current market pricing and we are happy to provide an analysis of your price as compared to the current market.

As always, feel free to call us at 407-841-5583 or stop by the sales studio. We look forward to hearing from you and to the great future for 55 West.

Do you all think this will hurt TT from going forward?

  4. Corporations tend to sponsor civic venues in the cities in which they have a strong presence. Prudential's headquarters is in Newark and Newark International Airport (EWR) is Continental's second largest hub. Airlines seem to love having the naming rights to basketball arenas...check out some of these examples:

Air Canada Centre - Toronto, Canada. YYZ is an Air Canada hub.

American Airlines Arena - Miami, FL. MIA is an AA hub.

American Airlines Center - Dallas, TX. DFW is an AA hub.

Delta Center (currently EnergySolutions Arena) - Salt Lake City, UT. SLC is a Delta hub. EnergySolutions is based in Salt Lake City.

FedEx Forum - Memphis, TN. FedEx is based in Memphis and MEM is the hub of their airline operations.

United Center - Chicago, IL. ORD is a United Airlines hub.

US Airways Center - Phoenix, AZ. PHX is a US Airways hub.

...you get the idea-- that's almost 1/4 of the arenas in the NBA. Basically if a legacy carrier has a major hub in your city, they're probably going to want to bid for naming rights to a new arena. Of course, they'll be competing with the other Fortune 500 companies that are based there.

So when it comes time to name the new Orlando Events Center, chances are we'll end up with something like:

    AAA Arena

    AirTran Arena (ha!)

    Amway Arena

    Brighthouse Center (oh, the irony)

    Darden Center

    Disney Center (yeah right)

    EA Arena

jetBlue Center (doubt it but would be a nice tie-in with the color scheme and whatnot)

TD Waterhouse Centre (please god not again)

    Tiburon Center

    Universal Center

Ive got it you guys will love this how about "HARRIS ROSEN ARENA"

  5. Link to the same OBJ article about Phillips View Tower I posted a few days ago, only this time it's the full article.

    1010974000197e3adhf4.jpg

^ Notice how the building dwarfs the gourmet McDonalds next door...and that construction is scheduled to begin in December and finish by April 2009.

Looks like this guy has been eating too many meals at micky D'S

Westin is building a hotel at Colonial Town Park off of 46A near Heathrow. sorry, no link to the OBJ or Sentinel article... it will be a 4 star hotel.

    How many stories?

  6. Wendy Chioji reported on the news tonight that Harris Rosen's petition drive is for all intents & purposes DOA.

He needs like, 30,000 sigs before the end of November, and he's only got about 2,100 or so, and out of those only about 1,500 have been certified.

I think his website says something about having to have all signatures submitted by Oct. 31.

    Sha-na-naaa-na

    Sha-na-naaa-na

    Hey hey hey....

    Goooood-bye!!!!!!

Now if they can just get things straightened out with the money grubbing land owner.

I wish Rosen would say goodbye this guy dont give a damn about us poor folk here in this area
  7. damn, no hotlinking allowed!

I am really starting to fall in love with 55W, the color is very nice. I too want to see some before/after shots of the downtown, it's really starting to fill in.

I like it too.I especially like it from i4 east bound at the 408 the density is awesome!

  8. Wow, I will definitely miss your posts OrlandoNative. You always gave me alot of education as far as the construction aspects. Good Luck in Atlanta!

Yeah so long O'native. Is this something just came up i thought you were buying in the TT.Anyways even though i never met you i always enjoyed ur post. You tell it like it is brother .Good Luck!!

  9. that link only talks about the old train being moved from CSS.

    ^^

as for the CSS hotel, I saw the 3D video deal a couple of months back and it's only like 16 or so stories, and faily wide and classic looking. But, that just could've been just a prelim. rendering before they decided on an operator.

Do you have the 3d video can u post it here so we can look at it?

  10. That list doesn't look right to me...

Cities I think are too high:

    -Seattle

    -Orlando

    -Phoenix

    -Denver

    -Charlotte

Cities I think are too low:

    -L.A.

    -Miami

I find it hard to believe that more people would want to live *near* Charlotte than Miami. Likewise Orlando over Honolulu, L.A., Chicago, and Miami.

Well as far as Miami goes think about all the crime down there. But on second thought we have our share of crime here though.I am a deputy sheriff and there is no way i would work in Miami.I want to retire someday

  11. The Light Strip On The Side Was Changing Colors Tonight. Drove By Quickly But Managed To Spot Of Course The Blue, Red And Green As Well As White And Purple.

How bout some night photos with the lughting

  12. From I-4, for those that live in Orlando, we know that there are stuff behind the solaire, but just from driving by, u would think they front part is all we have.

Put in TT, tri towers from the PAC, CNL III...the view will improve.

From that view just think if the Presidential went in that slot it would be awesome.Maybe someday will get a 400 footer there

  13. Convicted and sentenced.

The judge however has let him stay out of prison while his appeal proceeds.

The felony charges against him in another case were dropped recently when the State's main witness died on the eve of the trial.

The appellation above of "crotch stain" is overly kind in describing the type of human flotsam that is Doug Guetzloe.

I agree this piece of sh@@it is lower than low.He would do anything for money. Can you believe Rosen is associating with him.I hope he get prison time.
  14. Yes, God forbid Doug Guetzloe could ever be pre-judged

He has earned his title as crotch stain on his own nicely

This dynamic duo will only annoy for annoyance sake

Get ready to deal with this for the next 6 months guys

    Isnt he a convicted felon?
