It may be time to start a thread just for the Citrus Bowl.
Rhodes+Brito Architects will begin work on the $175 million, multi-phased project next month. The company will partner with HNTB Sports, a national firm that specializes in stadium renovations.

Thank god it's not baker barrios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think these guys are on magnolia just up from HB.
Just wondering is there any renderings what this is supposed to look like when finished?

I wonder if the developer could place a larger spire in place of that stubby one. The building would be listed as having a greater height if it did.
I agree that spire is too short

beautiful photo's thanks!

Put me in the positive column. Two thumbs up!

Corporations tend to sponsor civic venues in the cities in which they have a strong presence. Prudential's headquarters is in Newark and Newark International Airport (EWR) is Continental's second largest hub. Airlines seem to love having the naming rights to basketball arenas...check out some of these examples:
Air Canada Centre - Toronto, Canada. YYZ is an Air Canada hub.
American Airlines Arena - Miami, FL. MIA is an AA hub.
American Airlines Center - Dallas, TX. DFW is an AA hub.
Delta Center (currently EnergySolutions Arena) - Salt Lake City, UT. SLC is a Delta hub. EnergySolutions is based in Salt Lake City.
FedEx Forum - Memphis, TN. FedEx is based in Memphis and MEM is the hub of their airline operations.
United Center - Chicago, IL. ORD is a United Airlines hub.
US Airways Center - Phoenix, AZ. PHX is a US Airways hub.
...you get the idea-- that's almost 1/4 of the arenas in the NBA. Basically if a legacy carrier has a major hub in your city, they're probably going to want to bid for naming rights to a new arena. Of course, they'll be competing with the other Fortune 500 companies that are based there.
So when it comes time to name the new Orlando Events Center, chances are we'll end up with something like:
AAA Arena
AirTran Arena (ha!)
Amway Arena
Brighthouse Center (oh, the irony)
Darden Center
Disney Center (yeah right)
EA Arena
jetBlue Center (doubt it but would be a nice tie-in with the color scheme and whatnot)
TD Waterhouse Centre (please god not again)
Tiburon Center
Universal Center
Ive got it you guys will love this how about "HARRIS ROSEN ARENA"

Link to the same OBJ article about Phillips View Tower I posted a few days ago, only this time it's the full article.
^ Notice how the building dwarfs the gourmet McDonalds next door...and that construction is scheduled to begin in December and finish by April 2009.
Looks like this guy has been eating too many meals at micky D'S
Westin is building a hotel at Colonial Town Park off of 46A near Heathrow. sorry, no link to the OBJ or Sentinel article... it will be a 4 star hotel. How many stories?

I wish Rosen would say goodbye this guy dont give a damn about us poor folk here in this areaWendy Chioji reported on the news tonight that Harris Rosen's petition drive is for all intents & purposes DOA.He needs like, 30,000 sigs before the end of November, and he's only got about 2,100 or so, and out of those only about 1,500 have been certified.
I think his website says something about having to have all signatures submitted by Oct. 31.

that link only talks about the old train being moved from CSS.
^^
as for the CSS hotel, I saw the 3D video deal a couple of months back and it's only like 16 or so stories, and faily wide and classic looking. But, that just could've been just a prelim. rendering before they decided on an operator.
Do you have the 3d video can u post it here so we can look at it?
-
That list doesn't look right to me...
Cities I think are too high:
-Seattle
-Orlando
-Phoenix
-Denver
-Charlotte
Cities I think are too low:
-L.A.
-Miami
I find it hard to believe that more people would want to live *near* Charlotte than Miami. Likewise Orlando over Honolulu, L.A., Chicago, and Miami.
Well as far as Miami goes think about all the crime down there. But on second thought we have our share of crime here though.I am a deputy sheriff and there is no way i would work in Miami.I want to retire someday

From I-4, for those that live in Orlando, we know that there are stuff behind the solaire, but just from driving by, u would think they front part is all we have.
Put in TT, tri towers from the PAC, CNL III...the view will improve.
From that view just think if the Presidential went in that slot it would be awesome.Maybe someday will get a 400 footer there
-
Thanks.
Here are a couple more:
That bottom photo is awesome.Really make Orlando look like a big time city

I agree this piece of sh@@it is lower than low.He would do anything for money. Can you believe Rosen is associating with him.I hope he get prison time.Convicted and sentenced. The judge however has let him stay out of prison while his appeal proceeds.
The felony charges against him in another case were dropped recently when the State's main witness died on the eve of the trial.
The appellation above of "crotch stain" is overly kind in describing the type of human flotsam that is Doug Guetzloe.
-
Yes, God forbid Doug Guetzloe could ever be pre-judged
He has earned his title as crotch stain on his own nicely
This dynamic duo will only annoy for annoyance sake
Get ready to deal with this for the next 6 months guys
Isnt he a convicted felon?

this looks like the Rebel Alliance Shield Generator on Hoth.
T^he building on the right looks like the float in my toliet

From Projecthometown.com:
In case you missed, please see below today's Orlando Sentinel editorial regarding Mr. Rosen
-
Tim,
I wouldn't worry. The Statute says directly the 6th cent can be spent on advertising OR professional sports venues. Rosen was just grasping at straws.
The taxes being used to front the project (tourist and CRA) do not require a referendum so I don't you'll see a problem there. The CRA was approved in 1982 and those funds can be used on anything to redevelop within the footprint.
I was wondering. How much currently the tourist tax is going to pay for the orange convention center?
