It really isn't. Maybe the South East, minus Florida. Probably not even the southeast. Just the states around GA, again minus Florida.

I know, but they know we have traffic. They know we already have enough highways, They know our highways already have 10 lanes or more. They know why MARTA is the way it is. Everything is right there in their faces. It seems like all the other metro areas in the US are getting things done about there transportation problems except ours. There has to be something fishy going on. I hate to sound radical, but I just don't get it. It'll suck to see such a great city fall behind because of something so clear. And wouldn't all thoses buses they are trying to get add to traffic problems? Especially around the Art Center. Are they even thinking about some of these ideas?

I wish they would just build a freakin regional rail and quit beatin around the bush. We are already 30 years behind.

OMG. This is why I said other cities that are 2nd tier like Charlotte are going to eventually move pass Atlanta. In 25 years other REGIONS not cities are going to have great transit options. All we are going to have is the beltline- a waste of time and money, and a bunch of bus routes. And I'll be damned if I get outta my car for a bus. Call it sadity, pompous or whatever, buses will not attract people. To me, having a bus route would be moving backwards. I think MARTA needs to pull the 5 county rail plan back up and get a campaign and everything else to get this thing back up and running. AND THOSE COUNTIES NEED HEAVY RAIL IN SOME AREAS NOT JUST COMMUTER RAIL. We also need a campaign for commuter rails all over GA. NOT Tennessee. We should fix our own state 1st. Maybe a person who worked on the Transit boards for NYC or somewhere can help us out. I think we need to stop complaining on this board and go out and start doing something. Come on yall, we need to be pro-active. Or at least get Purdue outta office come November.

Boy, that map sucks. I hope we get more progress than that or we'll be spending the night on these highways.

Does anyone think that Charlotte will surpass Atlanta as the Southeast's main city or just overshadow it because of there new transit system that they are actually doing instead of plannig?

That escalator is ridiculous. I mean that side of Peachtree seriously needs an elavator. I hope they renovate the rest of the abandon places around there

I remember when I graduated high school in Savannah and couldn't wait to get to Atlanta. I was ready to be in the big city, riding marta to Stone Moutain then to 6 flags then to Mall of Georgia then to Clayton county beach then the oh...................THE MARTA GOES NO WHERE. The problem with The Atlanta area is that the surrounding areas don't work together. It's like everyone has there own city and don't want anything to do with anyone outside the city limits. Now everyone wants to be a city. I mean towns with under 100,000 people are already getting their own skylines. Im surprised they aren't building walls around these little towns. The outside areas act like they don't even need Atlanta. They act like they are some other big city hundreds of mile away from Atlanta. Every county has their own transit, which is crazy. There is like a million counties and the MARTA goes in 2. I think the counties need to combine. Atleast some of them.I live in Cobb County. I hate ridin the 10 bus (CCT). Every morning it gets stuck in traffic. Then when it tries to go use the HOV lane, it takes so long to get over that it has to stop trying because the exit comes up. Now, I hear they are tryin to build more lanes on the highways. I guess in a couple of years they'll try to add even more. Then Atlanta will be one big highway(Downtown already is).I wish that the counties would work together better.... a lot better. I wish The 5 or six surrounding counties would just get annexed by Atlanta. There are so many good things to do in Atlanta, no way to get there. It feels like the region is being held back.
