  1. You can take a bus between the Chinese districts of Boston and New York for only $15 each way. Takes 4 hours using I-95. http://www.fungwahbus.com/
  2. Has anyone tried Benjamin, the French bakery in Thornton Park?

There is an exit from the City/CNL garage by the south platform. It would be nice if they extended a little concrete sidewalk in that direction... for when I park there and walk to Magic games.

Is there a single platform designed to be covered? It doesn't appear that way to me, which I think is an oversight by HUMANS living in the SUNSHINE state.

They may have sold the public on the idea that people are going to take the train to games and shows, but operating hours are suit and tie friendly only.
  6. Steelhouse is like an M&M. Soft on the inside with a hard shell on the outside for looks.
  7. It isn't far for the people that live and work in the Bay Hill / Dr. Phillips area.
  8. At least these are interesting chains. Interesting because we are not drowning in them like Bennigans or Fridays and the like.
  9. My guess is that the businesses were asked to pay into the collective and they probably didn't feel they need it. They kinda hold their own.
  10. Sounds like he would want to steal some tourist traffic from Orlando and divert it to South Florida interests. Just sayin'.
  11. I think they pulled out the old yard sale sign.
  12. Tried out the Courtesy last night. It is an interesting place with a steam punk feel to it. Either find a place in the back or stay near the front. The middle is very narrow and feels cramped. I enjoyed the cocktails and they definitely take great care in preparing each drink. I will be back. I peeked into Elixir and that place has nice wood throughout. I want to try that place next.

They are pouring concrete today at Florida Hospital. It is the platform. Sorry, no pics.
  14. This is kinda old at this point, but I just found out and haven't seen anything else online to identify the tenant. That's a good chunk of space to rent. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-07-22/business/os-cfb-real-estate-office-0723-20120722_1_largest-office-leases-tenant-square-feet Anyone have any leads on this?

They have the trail going into that property now. It is paved for about 30 yards past Virginia Drive as of Friday. Also, the work at Lake Ivanhoe includes improvements to the exercise equipment along the trail. It is taking a long time, but they are also making enhancements to the lights and it appears to be drainage, irrigation, and electrical conduits. A nice touch overall. I just hope the Oak trees don't upend and break the sidewalks in 2 years like the old sidewalks. I'm guessing the size of the concrete "slabs" will deter this from happening.
  16. I live on Lake Ivanhoe now and I use both areas for running and walking. I don't understand the reasoning, either. I have to admit that I have been one of many people that has been using the widened sidewalk on Lake Ivanhoe even though it is not open to the public yet.
  17. And this whole time, I thought someone ran their car into the building.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/politics/os-orange-blossom-orlando-20120206,0,1647743.story Orlando agrees to spend $106K on study of Lake commuter rail line
  19. Logistically harder than creating an ice rink on land. The water underneath would constantly warm the ice and melt it... much more than ground. That would also lead to liability issues. I think there is a temporary ice rink in Winter Park every year that fills that void and you can always go to RDV for open ice skating.
  20. This is excellent. Is this going to take up 1 or 2 stories?
  21. The article says the name of the company is Pollack Shores. The apartment complex will still be called Steel House.
  22. My guess is that this "news" was "uncovered" when the Sentinel went nosing around looking for more information about the Amway Center's spire. People's money went into that building and they want to know what's going to happen.
  23. The building housing Glatting Jackson is being dubbed The Arcades. This may not be news, but I don't recall the building getting a new name. http://www.orlandoslice.com/events/photographer-yatin-presents-sutra
