  1. There is no longer Disney Animation in Orlando. Some of the remnants of Disney production is the IDEAS studio and they are located downtown already.
  2. Now, it may do this and I just haven't noticed it, but I think it would be cool if the "rings" spun slowly and counter to each other.

    SunRail

Does anyone know why SunRail rolled through town last night? I was driving alongside the train a little after 11pm from Winter Park to Lake Ivanhoe.
  4. Not exactly Ivanhoe Village since Florida Hospital considers that area the Health Village, so not sure if this is the best place to post. There is something fairly large going up along I-4 near Rollins St. There is definitely a garage component and looks likely to be an apartment complex. I remember seeing posts and renderings for workforce dwellings in that area, but don't recall the name of the development. Anyone?
  5. I know why they demo'd it. I didn't see anyone post any updates or pics and I was surprised to actually see the buildings gone yesterday.
  6. The old office building that had Florida Hospital as a tenant on Lake Killarney and the adjacent motor lodge are completely demolished.

Where are people supposed to go once departing the southbound train? Into the garage? I hope they have something in mind to get pedestrians in heels to City Hall and CNL. Walking in dirt doesn't cut it and going through an "exit" door of the garage doesn't either.

You will notice that is one of our very own UPers.

The wall goes all the way up to the market along the west wall now. There are a few places that look to be reserved for stairs. They just put some steel beams (vertical, don't remember if that is the correct term) in the ground in the southeast corner of the property. I think they did that on Friday morning.
  12. And they have nothing in NYC like Lake Eola, or Disney World, or Universal Studios, or tree lined streets. Sorry to jump on the very first post to UP.
  13. I found a couple new places (or about to be) while walking downtown this morning. On Magnolia across from the post office, there is a new restaurant called La Strada that appeared to be open. http://www.lastradausa.net. In the same building, there will be a place called Mandy's Pastry Shop. http://www.facebook.com/mandyspastryshoppe I think someone may have mentioned already, but there appears to be a french bakery going into the east side of The Plaza as well.
  14. Hammered Lamb opened up Wednesday. I checked it out last night. It was busy the whole night, so that's a good sign. Mixed crowd was nice. TV's outside in the courtyard and inside. Full bar. Very thankful for that. One ping pong table (free to play), one electronic dart board. One of my drinks was poured very weak. I took it back to a different bartender and he started pouring and asked me when to stop. That made up for the weak drink very quickly. I'm glad to have another place on the Ivanhoe strip that has a full bar.
  15. Orlando arts center reaches deal with Broadway presenters http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-broadway-performing-arts-deal-20130131,0,3381278.story
  16. No need to rant about a select few deciding to organize themselves and hold the city hostage from time to time so that developments go exactly the way they see fit.
  17. Most of the traffic jams on I-4 in downtown would be alleviated on day 1 of eastbound I-4 to eastbound 408 opening and it appears to be the easiest portion to build.
  18. That is there almost, if not every, week day.
  19. That view of Central Park should actually rotate clockwise 90 degrees. That hotel like building is on the east side of the park and it is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. http://www.metmuseum.org/
  20. I'm impressed. Good job on meeting your goal.
  21. I know this route... YMCA's Monday run.
  22. I like the mass of this thing and I make a point to drive, walk, or bicycle by it once per week. I just don't get the look of the truss on top. It looks like the old Lynx station that used to be on Central. Just paint it pink and it's the same thing. Is that supposed to be a fold out of postcards? The entire design was supposed to look like a southern style porch, right? What porch looks anything like that? Everybody is commenting on how great the girth is, but what about the look and feel? I just don't see it.
