    The Vue

Are these the "sales associates" or is this a stock photo? http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/4327/vu...sociates5jx.jpg

    Courtside

I concur with the goof. Looks a little like a hut.

    Courtside

I concur mostly. Court 6 will help make this side look better. But I'm not sure if all it needed was better glass or more creative window treatments. It also needs basic design. It's looks thrown together back there. On the other hand, it mimics the look of the back of the AT&T builidng across 6th.
  4. At the site today a crew from Andy's something or other was surveying between 6th and 7th from the Hoefner basketball courts to N. McDowell. Neither surveyer knew what they were surveying for or for whom. One said they surveyed the land across the street at the cultural center last week. From what I could see they were markeing the edges with little orange flags and painting pretty lines near utility connections.

    Courtside

Took some pics of Courtside today. Notice the spire on top of the wing. BTW does anyone know what the wing-shaped hat is on the top?
  6. I agree Seabreeze - and I'm a huge NASCAR fan. This project is not going to bring us anything but higher taxes and a building that sits empty most of the time. Seems to me we have enough of both. These public projects for private companies/people loaded with cash rub me the wrong way. Most of the people on the street were BofA employees because Chief Marketing Officer Cathy Bessant, a major player in this project, has been pushing it within the company. I worry the growth prospects are clouding our heads.
  7. Looks questionable, especially if you check out their main site at wholeteam.com. The interesting item here is they are having the conference at the Best Western on S. McDowell, formerly the Four Points Sheraton. Did I miss that announcement?
  8. M Street will have 67 residential units and 6 commercial units, according to the purchase and sale agreement.
  9. This project was DOA. We went to the sales office and it was littered with direct mail they were preparing. This was before all the recent announcements, so remember there was a lot of pent-up demand. Centro had waiting lists and these guys were pulling out the marketing guns. Something was up. Shortly thereafter the print ads started. Then this winter the main salesperson - who lives in 1st Ward - went to a different firm. We were so desparate for Uptown we gave them a deposit. This was before just before M Street, which is where we did buy. There are 3 big drawbacks to The Renwick. 1) Unknown developers, 2) low income apts will be next door, and 3) design. A condo overlooking a pool with Roman columns is just plain tacky and potentially noisy. And if you're a woman, would you want to hangout at a pool where anyone can gawk at you all day?
  10. Some examples of creek revitalization in other cities can be found in section 3 of the LSC master plan located on the park and rec website: http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Park+a.../Masterplan.htm You can also read through the project goals and plans. As has been said, the county is bringing the creeks back to their natural state, while incorporating education, transportation and recreation opportunities in order to encourage development.
  11. It looks like Drakeford/Boulevard Centro broke ground on M Street either today or yesterday. We went by there Saturday and nothing was going on. Tonight they had fences up, a backhoe on site, and there was a big hole beside the backhoe. Nothing happening with The Renwick yet.

    The Vue

Rumors about a new condo tower in 4th Ward were confirmed by Doug Smith in today's Charlotte Observer. It's called The Vue and it'll be located at 5th and Pine between Cityview Tower and Fifth & Poplar apartments. Another surface parking lot bites the dust! Here's the article: http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/bus...th/11096274.htm Besides the announcement, there are various comments from real estate experts and the developers about Charlotte's Uptown residential growth that are very interesting. Developers are Churchill Development Group, Orlando, and Westminster Partners, Chicago. There's a web site, but nothing is posted there yet. http://www.vuecharlotte.com/
