  1. Thank you RaleighRick, great pics! I think that I will go sit in a corner and cry...what a loss! And while I actually do like the design of the 10 story building, it's just that, a 10 story building...what a waste of prime downtown space. Oh well, there money my dreams. Sigh!
  2. Does anyone know if there is a new eta for construction to begin? I see a lot of tumble weeds blowing around over there...lol
  3. You're not alone... I believe that originally this address was slated for a multi-use building of around 21 floors...
  4. Agree with jtmonk I do! I personally would have preferred that they included the parking and perhaps even a small/boutique hotel...kind of spreading the cost to build around. Slso, this looks even more shocking when you think that the 23 story Sky House apartment building was built for 60 million and just sold today for 105 million...
  5. If, and I really mean a big if here, the State of NC goes along with CSX's new idea of a big new freight-train facility in Johnston Couny, (story in today's N&O), will this be an okay, good, or very good thing for Raleigh? I remember back in the day when Fed Ex wanted to locate at RDU but got so much push back from Cary/Morrisville that Fed Ex had to reconsider and then moved to Memphis.
  6. I drove by the US project today and noticed that they had a fence up and one loan excavator sitting idle, nothing more. And this project is supposed to open in 2017? Is there a real start date?
  7. I guess that the architect is trying to match up the brick/color of the building with the rest of the warehouse district? I'm "ok" with keeping the first floor brick but I think that the design of the SECU building would have been a better design for this area...but hey, who knows, maybe the next project in the Warehouse district will come closer? At least it's not just a square building.
  8. The triangle business Journal reported today around 5 PM that the John Kane/Dillon project should be starting construction in January...
  9. This design reminds me a lot of the old building that sits between the round Holiday Inn and The Second Empire restaurant on Hillsboro st except that this design is taller. But still lacking in design features IMHO.
  10. How is transportation getting ready to change dramatically in a short period of time? RU referring to "ramped up" bus service in Wake county? As both heavy rail & light rail won't be seen in the Triangle for a very, very long time to come. Please share...?
  11. I think that they should either bring the Wilmington side up or move the Fayetteville side down. Either way leaving one building with two different heights makes it look odd to me...still not sure if I like it. It does remind me of the old BB&T/Capital Bank building also on Fayetteville st across from Duke Progress.
  12. Hasn't John Kane already "closed" on this land? Has he sent anything to be reviewed by the city yet???
  13. Does anyone know if there is any actuale construction taking place? On the inside? Tracks? Would love to see any and all construction photos...yeah, I know I am a destruct/construct geek. I live for this stuff. Please and thank you!
  14. One bright spot, since the state has been looking for around 500,000 sq ft of office space, timing could be good?
  15. View the the latest Downtown Raleigh plan: http://www.raleighnc.gov/business/content/PlanUrbanDesign/Articles/DowntownPlan.html It looks promising...?
  16. So, will this train... http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/news-columns-blogs/article18435236.html ...be able to run in the new Union Station?
  17. I noticed that Walkers comment about downtown Raleigh having only one stop/station @ civic center? Does he know about Union Station? Is this Rapid Rail option only viable at certain points? Not a good option for downtown Raleigh???
  18. So what does it mean if rail rapid transit is in an commuter rail is out? I thought that those where just interchangeable words/same technology?
  19. Wake county transit cost to double: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/counties/wake-county/article17563127.html At least we will get four options instead of just two. More options, more planning, more cost, more informed...hopefully a better all around transit plan for as many people as possible?
  20. It looks like the legislature is at it again, undoing the latest contract to sale the Dix land to Raleigh: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article16417289.html
  21. Looks as if the ceremony for Union Station project is delayed until July: http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/real-estate/2015/03/raleigh-delays-ceremony-union-station-project.html
  22. Looks as if the ceremony for Union Station has been delayed until July: http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/real-estate/2015/03/raleigh-delays-ceremony-union-station-project.html
  23. Thank you Green_Man. This helps me w/understanding and perspective. Wouldn't this be a great place for one of those retail/food arcades? Large open space for local butcher/baker/seafood/florist? Fresh & Local is best IMHO...
  24. Does anyone know what the current zoning is for Kane's warehouse land? Is it he or the city that is having staffing issues?
  25. Now that Cary is almost totally boxed in by other towns, how does it contine to grow but remain a suburbs kind of town? And the only thing that I can think of is what seems to be currently happening, but on a smaller scale of what they would like...continue to build Cary by skipping over Jordan Lake and into Chatham County? Look out Pittsboro...
