  1. this was the picture that i have seen. it has everything built out including a airtrain like dallas. http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/201310/3738/ this build out may or may not be complete in my lifetime.
  2. well, looks like i-shops is ramping up. i wonder how tall the hotel towers will be? they will be eliminating the independent low rise buildings of the existing hotel. they also got approval for 1600 hotel rooms within the towers. a project that size puts it on par with the hilton and hyatt down by the convention center. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-wyndham-shops-development-20150106-story.html
  3. well, looks like this is the answer http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-westgate-lakes-shopping-20141215-story.html questionable location though. its all the ways on the south side of the resort. dont know how much use a parking garage would be. what kind of a connection to the rest of the resort considering the large retention pond in between properties.

  5. i think once the new water park is up and running and universals current setup it built out, which it will be within the next few years, wet n wild will be razed and universal make use the land for their future plans of massive hotel expansion.

  9. the two newer airside terminals use similar models. i am wondering if these will be kept for spare for parts needed down the road for the newer ones.
  10. i know...... but this is I-drive...... the tourist corridor with tacky tattoo shops. i would love to know the county commission's reasoning behind it if that was the case. is a 400 ft attraction going to suddenly make I-drive more uniform than a 600 foot one?
  11. so the FAA does not make these same recommendations limiting height in tampa, miami, chicago, new york, etc etc? i dont see any specific reasons for height restrictions in the I-drive area.......and if they make empty recommendations for height restrictions, why is orange county the only one who follows it to a T, meanwhile miami dade, hillsboruogh, los angeles, clark, cook, etc etc county would ignore it? no airport or flight path in any vicinity of I-drive...... no excuse for ANY restrictions in that area. i cant see how the FAA would have grounds to limit height in that area.
  12. on what grounds does the FAA have to stranglehold all of orange county? I -drive is nowhere near any of the airports, nor is it near ANY flight path in or out of the airport. we have antennas in orange county pushing 600 feet if im not mistaken. miami, jacksonville, and tampa all have 500+ footers. ok, the whole downtown debate has been discussed ad nauseum with orlando executive. however, they cannot hold height restrictions on the entire county just for the hell of it. a project like this would be the perfect client to finally sue if they try to cut them down.
  13. i remember about 6 months ago seeing the pedestrian improvement renderings. they were complete pedestrian overpasses in all four directions over the sand lake / i drive interchange. they looked like the typical vegas overpasses with stairs and escalators. maybe this will be the begining or the north i-drive correction a la vegas style..... implode and rebuild.
  14. we can only dream that something like this would be completed in downtown.....but miami is on another level. on a consolation, i think the airport location that we have will have a huge impact for orlando as well. there is no way ft lauderdale or west palm beach will have anything resembling miami. however, the OIA location is spearheading the huge intermodal center south of the airport. without AAF, this would be years, if not decades away. since AAF is here, the airport pushed to get this built. it will be a lot easier for sunrail to have a spur to the airport if a station is actually built already, which AAF triggered. this is also going to precursor the long stalled airport expansion.
  15. a lot of land clearing is going on across the street from the new apartments by seaworld on westwood blvd. there is also a lot of land clearing going on near the corner of palm parkway and central florida parkway. any insight as to what are going up at these two sites?
  16. will work for me either way. if they turn the CFP - I4 into a REAL interchange and extend fenton to apopka vineland........ ill be in heaven.
  17. i cannot wait either. however, my ultimate dream is going to be when they extend fenton to apopka vineland and they eventually turn fenton into a full I-4 interchange. im hoping the interchange will happen with the ultimate I-4 expansion. the interchange and fenton expansion will single handedly shave 10-15 minutes of commute time to work each way for me.
  18. does anybody know when they plan to open the fenton street bridge over I-4 from palm parkway to international drive? it looks like it has been complete for the past 4 months, but it is still closed to traffic.
  19. my apologies for creating a new thread. i must be going crazy but i cant seem to find the airport thread. in any case........ does anyone have an idea about when they intend to break ground on the new south terminal complex? ive read numerous sentinel articles about them waiting until they max out the existing terminal before they break ground. in those articles it always listed that even if built out and made 100% efficient, the existing complex capacity is 38 million. we are currently just shy of 36 million. this is 6 million more than we were pre 9/11 when they were about to pull the trigger on the expansion. now i know that they just finished renovating the original 2 airsides, but the renovation was purely aesthetic. the southwest terminal can be built out for more gates......... but i believe the terminal capacity bottleneck really is the landside complex, which cannot be expanded more. so now we are at just shy of 36 million, and by years end, we may very well be over 36 million. these numbers are also in a recession economy, i can only imagine what happens when it improves. does anybody know any more updated info regarding this?

    yea, its closed to completion. im surprised nobody else has mentioned orlando health's new expansion plans. they are planning a new tower along orange just south of the ER as well as an expansion of the ER. after that is complete they are going to tear down one of the main wings and create another tower as well. ive been trying to get a sneak peak of the blueprints, apparently they are floating out there.

    i think this is kind of a down payment. obama is going to slip another $5 billion to congress in the next fiscal year to continue to fund these projects. i really hope down the road the money doesnt fizzle away and they spend all the down payment money on engineering and design. this would leave us with nothing. however, im afraid that if they decide to work on this in phases and claim that they will work on the rest when they get the extra funding.... we all know how that always turns out. i dont want to be a pessimist here, but im scared that the only thing we might end up with is a tourist train from the airport to I drive and disney.

    its only going to be for 1.3 billion. that leaves us with only a little over 35 % funding in place.
