  1. Actully Clums pop now is about 121,000 with a 2010 projection of about 125,000. But your right that number doesn't accurately reflect the size of Cola. its the 4th largest UA in the Carolinas behind CLT 750K, Ral 500K, Charles 425K, aand Clum at 423K.
  2. Is it me or has anyone else noticed that Carolina basketball has been aired alot more on TV this year? They are playing again tonight on ESPN. There season has been heartbreaking but atleast they are getting some love on a national and regional scale this year. I wonder if Spurrier being there has anything to do with generous airtime? Either way I like it though. I constantly hear the annoncers say "Carolina", and Columbia w/o adding SC and that's how it should be. Hope the pull off another upset tonight!
  3. Patterns, mabye I should take up soothsaying????
  4. No doubt. Just kinda comes as a surprise to me that's all. If those stores are coming to main that's great news! I say bring em on! By the way where did you hear that?
  5. Okay matt I know your pullin my chain. Not to say that Columbia couldn't support those stores.
  6. So does anyone know what shops are coming yet?
  7. It's amazing what that area looks like now. Complete 180 from the days of when I grew up. I still have mixed feelings about it though just washing away one problem and leaving it in another part of town without actually fixing the problem, but that's another thread entirely.
  8. I love that churh, one of my favorite landmarks in the city! Looks like an old spanish mission from the days when spain and the french huegonots used to inhabit colonial SC.
  9. I don't think it will have a hard time selling if Innovista brings in the high paying jobs that it's supposed to bring. It's slated for being a (southeastern) regional economic engine. Toyota may be leasing some space there. But anyway it will transform that part of main for sure pretty soon it will cost a prettier penny to live in DT and around USC in about 5-10 years.
  10. Maybe you should write someone about your idea?
  11. Damn! That's a good idea! Not sure what they mined there though, and would it contaminate those who swim there but that would definately be an excellent plan! I'm sure that would definately get the olympia area jump started.
  12. Yeah the Columbia Metro is pretty much spreading from Camden to Red Bank (Lexington Co. White Knoll HS etc.). It's taking shape just like the rest of the southeast. The only reason Columbia doesn't have a high sprawl index like GSP is because Cola metro is more centrally weighted.
  13. I definatley think that's a plus make housing affordable and functional for everyone and cultivate a living breathing city core notjust for the rich because then you end up with the same problem of sidewalks rolling up after 6PM.
  14. Very nice looking that area of town will sky rocket in housing prices once Bull St. is done!
  15. I'd wager that Lexington is probablly a little larger than 16K. Last year it beat out Greer as the fastest growing municipality in SC.
  16. I like the fact that it mentions what most business savy people would see that the success of the downtown condo market will be largely affected by Innovista. That's a drum I've been beating for a while. Just glad to see it printed in black and white too!
  17. That's great news! I can't believe how extensive these projects will be. Just another notch on the list of developments.
  18. I think that sounds good! I would initiate a photo of the day thred but I don't have enough pics.
  19. Great shots! Nice to see the density added to the skyline! can't wait for the tower to go up on south main!
  20. I see both of you guys points and I am torn. However I do believe that a spark must be made sometimes it may be ugly but when you don't have many barter chips sometimes it's the necessary evil. I would actually like to see more public development for the lake such as an extended beach front, large marina, and greater recreation opps (such as hiking, and biking paths around the lake! It's one of the regions greatest gems tha't's severely under used!
  21. I like the way old Columbia looked. You can see the Capitol, and the USC horseshoe.
  22. Is this what you were refering to as far as the renovated train stations?
