  1. Durham getting some more love. http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/best-places-to-travel-in-2015/49
  2. ^And Amway! On a side note, Seattle is a cautionary tale of BRT-a complete mess there. BRT may work well within city core as applied in Europe but is a total nightmare for moving people from the burbs.
  3. Demographics between Tampa and Raleigh are apples and oranges.
  4. A new brewery looks like it will also be in this area near the Hendrick site so it appears this former "No Man's Land" is starting to develop. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2014/12/01/ponysaurus-brewing-co-opening-brewery-and-taproom.html
  5. I think they are doing that by design (no pun intended). Reject all that is J Davis. I do hope they don't get too obsessed with the warehouse theme though.
  6. And the Jack Tar gets a renovation instead of a tear down which is cool.
  7. I think University is the last holdout but ATHD has been leaning on them hard to sell which almost happened pre-economic crash.
  8. A new development at the current Hendrick Automall site. Hopefully the same fate occurs for the dealerships next to ATHD. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/real-estate/2014/11/apartments-roxboro-street-hendrick-downtown-durham.html
  9. I think this is the biggest election for Wake County residents, including the national ones. All politics are local. The parks bond was also a landslide, in favour which illustrates that the resident big mouths don't know the constituency.
  10. Coble, Bryan, and Matthews gone-I guess their shenanigans didn't work out so well for them.
  11. Little blips coming out. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/techflash/2014/10/rtp-partners-with-frontier-communications-to.html
  12. Another tech company taking space in this area. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2014/10/22/silicon-valley-company-beefs-up-triangle-presence.html
  13. Go back to his "Durham..." post and get the idea of what this is.
  14. Union Station just got some more cash for design upgrades. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2014/10/13/raleighs-union-station-receives-1-5m-federal-grant.html Raleigh needs to ride this momentum and get local transit on track.
  15. This could have gone in the Citrix section as well but the article seems more focused in the development of the area as a whole. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/10/08/4218123_citrix-systems-injects-new-blood.html?sp=/99/104//&rh=1 Interesting that another IT firm is possibly looking to relocate 450 employees there.
  16. Ulterior motives going on. Now McCorny and crew are advocates for the mentally ill and downtrodden.
  17. Keep negotiating and send DHHS to some office building in North Raleigh.
  18. So here is the synopsis of the development including the location. http://wraltechwire.com/asset/news/2014/10/01/14033881/Full_page_photo.pdf and announcement. http://www.wral.com/news/video/14033346/?ref_id=14033337 Sounds like the gauntlet has been thrown down to RTP's Park Center project-which was supposed to be announced in September.
  19. Well hopefully this won't be limited to Duke folks-would defeat the whole purpose. While Duke is a key player, the idea is to start pulling everyone in from various skills/backgrounds. A similar concept is South Lake Union in Seattle. My friend lives in the neighbourhood, anchored by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (UW), but you would never know it was a campus of any sort-just a cool little area with tech companies all over the place.
  20. Here is a Duke Chronicle article as well. Pretty major movement for Duke that has been pretty conservative with moving hard sciences off campus. http://www.dukechronicle.com/articles/2014/09/29/innovation-district-downtown-makes-room-duke-science-labs
  21. Why hasn't A Southern Season taken interest (or maybe they have)? No one can argue its not local and what a great selling point for them especially to tourists. It doesn't have to be a flagship store but a boutique version of a boutique. I know they were looking at a Raleigh locale.
  22. Don't know too much but I don't think its supposed to be a campus in a traditional sense, but more of a neighbourhood. It will most likely consist of renovation as well as new construction probably centered around Measurement Inc.'s compound on Morris St.
  23. A piece on Moore Square and City Market, which turns 100 this year. Its a no-brainer that this should be none other than... a market in my opinion-see Granville Island Market http://granvilleisland.com(a large attraction in Vancouver) which was formerly nothing but a piece of land under a bridge. Similar layout with art studios and cobblestone. I don't understand what the hell they are thinking by chopping this space up. Once again, no vision. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/09/28/4190881_with-growth-around-raleighs-moore.html?sp=/99/102/110/&rh=1
