  1. This is now the 15th U/C or proposed project that is over 600'. And there are more that the height info is not yet publicly available. I think there will be a significant pause in office construction in Austin as well as the rest of the country as interest rates rise and the economy tanks. Fortunately residential and hospitality is driving Austin's building boom.
  2. We got another 600+ footer proposal that is tall enough to satisfy my self-imposed requirement of only buildings over 600' get their own thread. This is on the 300 block of Congress Ave., and would be built over some historical buildings. That means it has an uphill battle for approval because proposals for towers built on top of historical buildings never seem to get far in Austin. This is all residential (of course, this is Austin) and would be 55-stories. This Towers article has the info: https://austin.towers.net/congress-avenues-first-residential-tower-plan-in-years-takes-shape-maybe/[email protected]
  3. The Ritz-Carlton developer is rumored to be closing on the site purchase in December. The owner of the site is Genesis who is building a 594' residential tower known as the Travis. The Ritz site was previously the site of the approved Travis #2 tower site.
  4. Here's another construction photo update from 360_Ray at SSP. Most of Austin's tallest U/C projects are still rising from their excavated pits or only a couple floors above grade. In two years or so we could have ~15 Luffing cranes on the skyline over 800'.
  5. The Austin Tallest Projects list has been updated. There are more big projects in the works including another supertall that are not listed because the height/floor count info is not listed on any permits or City documents. The third supertall is an upsizing of one of the projects already listed. But that info is not publicly available, and I left it off the list. But some inside information and guesstimating puts the next two supertalls at around 1,150' and 1,250'.
  6. New and more detailed elevations were released for the 41N tower. It lost nine floors and the height decreased from 766' to 691'. https://abc.austintexas.gov/public-search-other?t_detail=1&t_selected_folderrsn=12971792&t_selected_propertyrsn=3039694
  7. Here's a nice view of the skyline from the ACL Fest location at Zilker Park. Photo by Grexsys at Flickr
  8. This photo by Riverranchdrone @SSP shows the North end of the Rainey St. Entertainment District. Three more Luffing cranes are scheduled to go up in this view to support towers in the rendering below the photo.
  9. Another construction update from 360_Ray at SSP:
  10. The first of what looks like three supertalls for Austin.
  11. This project may be getting a redesign and height boost to push it around to around 1,150'. Then there's 3rd & Congress (next to the former tallest Austin tower - the Austonian - that may be 90-stories which would be around 1,250' based on the rumored uses.
  12. I'm wondering if this will end up becoming the "Meta Tower". Meta (Facebook) pre-leased 100% of the office space. No word yet on whether "Meta" signage will be installed on the mechanical screen like the "Indeed" signage on their neighbor's HQ.
  13. The temporary new tallest is close to topping out. I can't verify it yet, but they may be working on the mechanical screen. Photo by Jtype on Instagram.
  14. Crane #3 is going up this weekend. Photo by Marshall Geyer on Twitter
  15. The tallest building in Austin title is almost like the oldest person in the world title when it comes to longevity. The current new tallest 6&Guadalupe at 874' isn't even topped out yet, and the next new tallest Waterline at 1,022' is U/C. Another developer is planning to build a tower at 3rd & Congress next to the Austonian, which was the tallest building from 2010 to 2019, that is "up to 90-stories". That would likely be around 1,250' depending on the uses. The site is currently a narrow half block surface lot:
  16. Semiconductor factories are water intense industries. I am surprised that they continue to expand in Phoenix and Austin where water is a precious resource. I would expect the Great Lakes region to be a bigger landing spot for that industry in the future. Although New York has some fabs, and the recent Intel expansion to Columbus is a good sign.
  17. The previous photo was the skyline from West to East. This one is more South to North.
  18. From today by 360_Ray on SSP. The site is busy with columns rising.
