  1. Well, since Photobucket doesn't want to play nice here... here's the Youtube version...
  2. OK, this isn't a pic, it is a short vid made with my crummy camera but it's an amazing shot. It's from tonight's storms. Thunderstorm/Lightning Vid
  3. Luv me some Five Guys!!! There food is delish!!! Get the fries cajun style folk! And douse them with malt vinegar!!! MMMMMM
  4. Close.. Bordeaux... even though to have replicated the Eiffel Tower, I would have called it the Parisian Center! Your prizes will arrive soon by USPS! LOL
  5. That is correct! Now do you know the name of the development this landmark is located in?
  6. That is true, Asheville, Fayetteville, and Greensboro I believe went solidly blue in the last election. Would the encumbents in races in these areas face a backlash due to a slow recovery? It seems most Americans are resigned to a long recovery from this recession, would that hold true if most other metros in the state have returned to former glory by then?
  7. Grabbed this link from another posting in the coffee house, the Sacremento Bee has posted a map on when metros are going to return to pre-recession employment levels. As far as the Triad is concerned, this is what was projected: Winston-Salem's MSA should return to pre-recession levels by 2012 Burlington and Greensboro's MSA will not return to pre-recession levels until 2014 'or beyond.' Here's what the list said for the state: 2011: Durham, Raleigh 2012: Charlotte, Wilmington, Winston-Salem 2013: Greenville 2014 'or beyond': Asheville, Burlington, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Hickory, Rocky Mount. read into what you will...
  8. This isn't the best pic as the weather didn't work with me... This is a landmark for a commercial development 'somewhere' in NC. Can you guess the city and the name of the development? (Photo was edited so you wouldn't get one of the answers immediately.)
  9. Nice vid, however, are you a 'leadfoot?' I noticed like only 2 cars passed you on your circle around town while you where whizzing by everyone else!
  10. Grandfather Mtn yesterday afternoon around 4pm. A few more clouds than I'd like, and the outside temp on the gauge in the car read 66 degrees. This was taken from an overlook off the Blue Ridge Parkway just south of the US221 intersection near Linville.
  11. To my understanding, there is still a protest planned for tomorrow at 11am at Time Warner's offices in Greensboro over this..
  12. I'd like to know your source for this.. the three regarded capitals of the CSA were Montgomery, AL; Richmond, VA; and Danville, VA. (please, something beside wikipedia) From the website www.jeffersondavis.net, Greensboro is only credited with a conference being held as Davis fled from Danville. There is no city that I'm aware of that can claim the CSA tried to use as a seat of government after he fled Danville. I can find nothing to substantiate Greensboro being the capital of the CSA.
  13. I like the design for this building, it should fit into our urban fabric nicely..
  14. Probably not anytime soon, but maybe when and if they exit bankruptcy protection. They are citing difficult credit markets as their reason for filing chapter 11 and a large debt coming mature soon.
  15. CNN had a film crew in Winston-Salem this morning at Cagney's restaurant on Cloverdale. They were asking patrons about the state of the economy and how it has affected their lives. The segment will air at 11am on Sunday on "State of the Union with John King." Read about it here.
