  1. ^Thanks Suge! I viewed the website. I'm really intirgued. I can't wait to see the floor plans.
  2. I just reviewed the rendering. This building is absolutely beautiful. Location, location, location!!!! I agree with monsoon about this property. I know it probably has already been shown but does anyone have the website to The Vue?
  3. In all sincerity...... Mr Cosmoboy, I could not agree with you more. Your statement above is why I have gone on record several times saying that I feel it should go to Charlotte. I would much rather have it in Charlotte than any of the other choices. Reason why? Because for the population of metro Atlanta who may really be into NASCAR, Charlotte is only a short drive away. I look forward to at least visiting the HoF in your fair city at least once. I plan on visitng for other matters on many many more occassions.
  4. I was dismayed when I saw them in a Krogers....like a day after the law was changed. This was a couple of days before the 4th. The next day I went to the same Kroger and the display was ravaged and there were only a few left. Talk about pent up demand.
  5. Okay......I did state in my original post before cosmoboy responded that there is no real big push to get the HoF here in Atlanta so no harm no foul if it goes to Charlotte. NCguy06, if you read the conversation between cosmoboy and myself you will see that he said Atlanta doesn't have a raceway. That is true, the city of Atlanta does not have a raceway....but neither does the city limits of Charlotte. That was my point to cosmoboy.....towards his specific remark. Which I think is still there unless he has edited it. Shawn and yourself have both mentioned that the speedway is in Concord.....I stand corrected....but that still is not in the city limits of Charlotte so cosmoboy's point it mute. Either way it's a matter of semantics. It would be nice to have it but if it doesn't then it doesn't. I have personally said on the Atlanta thread that I would prefer it goes to Charlotte. I'm sure you can do a search on that subforum to find my sentiments to be truth. When I responded to A219724, I was talking about hotel accomadations in the area where it "would" go. Not that I felt Atlanta is the better choice.....because quite frankly I don't. p.s.- I went to a site that maps directions and per this site from city centers....and I'm using city centers because that's where both Ritz's are located....the mileage is as such. Atlanta (CBD) to Hampton, Ga = 28.74 miles Charlotte (CBD) to Concord, Nc = 26.40 miles That's really not much of a difference. I just wanted to clear that up since the intial start of my conversation had to do with the Ritzs location in the CBD. Okay guys I'm through.
  6. Like there is no race track in downtown Atlanta, there is no race track in downtown Charlotte either. I could be wrong but I doubt it. If you are familair with NASCAR....I am not, not my cup of tea....you will know that there is a race track here in Metro Atlanta as well.....unless the Lowes Motor Speedway....which is located in Harrisburg, NC is also in downtown Charlotte. As far as where the racers live, I thought Halls of Fame had more to do with the fans and not the participants. Isn't that how other halls of fames were placed.....unless there was something I missed about Cleveland, Ohio. But Cosmoboy I could be wrong.
  7. While I understand your comparison between the Ritz Buckhead and the Ritz Downtown....the dining options at the Diningroom at the Ritz/Buckhead is among the best in the city for cuisine and ambience.....I don't think that the Ritz Downtown would be the closest upscale hotel to the site considered for the HoF Atlanta. The site chosen...if I recall correctly will be at or near the Centennial Olympic Park to tie in with the new Aquarium, CNN and the World of Coca~Cola. Of the four star rated hotels, there's the Hyatt Regency, the Omni Hotel (across the park from the reported site), The Westin Peachtree Plaza, and The Embassy Suites across the park from the proposed site. Of the Five Star caliber, you have The Four Seasons, The Intercontinetal, The Grand Hyatt and the Ritz Buckhead all a few train stations away. There is also plans for the St Regis, another five star hotel....(there are only 11 others in the world - all in cities such as Rome, London, New York - is proposed for a West Paces Ferry Road site just west of Buckhead Plaza on Peachtree. Someone visiting the HoF here in Atlanta would not have far to go if they so choose. I will say this though.....I don't think the frever for the Nascar Hall of Fame is high here in Atlanta. Then again perhaps it is because the mayor, city council, Bernie Marcus and the head of the Chamber of Commerce are taking some "extreme" measures to ensure that conventioneers and tourist will feel safe and right at home in the Centennial Triangle......much to the peril of some human rights groups.
  8. Although this is a classic example of Atlanta's sprawl, I think this picture is hot. Thanks for posting it Labtec. Now if the photographer could have moved a tad bit to the left to get more of the Perimeter Center area.
  9. Here's an update on the Atlanta Beltway: Atlanta Beltway Updates. This is turning out to be interesting. I am really excited about this. I hope it is realized in a true urban sense. This could really make intown living even more popular.
  10. With all the growth in Augusta and the growth on Lake Oconee, why is there no talk of a commuter rail between Atlanta and Augusta. There could be stops in Downtown Atlanta, Lithonia, Conyers, Covington, Buckhead (not the one in Atlanta), Madison, Greensboro, Crawfodville, Thomson and then on to Augusta. That would be really nice. There could be urban nodes around the station, plus it could spark development in parts of Georgia that are in need of new development.
  11. My gosh Martinman, I'm going to have to start relying on you for information. You are always there to get me the information I need. Now that you show me this article, I remember it vaguely now. I had forgotten the name of it. When I saw this in the AJC, I really wanted them to build it. I still do. It would be a great addition to the growing monuments of Atlanta. Thanks again Martinman for your contunued information.
  12. Millenium Gate? Where was it supposed to be? I personally have not heard anything about such a project. To another point though, I really wished they would have done something major with the 17th ST bridge. Such a missed opportunity to do something grand and monumental.
  13. The greatest city on Earth. I love the Empire State Building. The picture that has the shot of The Citicorp Building....there is a building with the beidemier top to the right of Citigroup.....what is located in that building? I also find the bottom of the Citigroup Building very intriguing. There is so much to love about New York. I am going to have to visit and visit real soon.
  14. There is a whole lot of residential development going on in that sector of the city. Novare Groups's Centennial develpoment is going to add 1000 new residences alone. This building appears to be 50 stories. Quite alot of new homes. With the addition of the Aquarium and the World of Coca~Cola plus the Atlantic Station's many amenities, this area could become a residential boom. The Civic Center is just blocks away. I hope the developer prices the homes just right. The Museum Tower took a while to sell out but Centennial Park West, which was more pricey, sold out quicker. Perhaps it's all the amenties offered at Centennial PW. Either was, this is good for the CBD.
  15. Thank you very much Martinman. Fascinating. I wonder if this will get built. This developer is responsible for the GLG Grand (Four Seasons) develpoment. Good for him.....great for Atlanta.
  16. On page 2 the poster by the name of Chris has a picture of a building near Centennial Olympic Park he labels Block 3. Does anyone know the name of that building or where he obtain that picture? I would love to read more information on that development. Thank you in advance.
