  1. Ironically enough, Fort Wayne has a blue lit truss bridge - Wells Street Bridge.
  2. Hope they can draw some manufacturers instead of all warehouses. This is a big opportunity.
  3. “The grocery store concept is not dead. But we're also open to other opportunities on that block," said ICCF Executive Director Ryan VerWys. The new senior living apartments would bolster the case for building a grocery store on the site, he said. when are people around here going to realize that “low income”, “restricted income”, “fixed income”, “no income” is not going to attract the amenities (shops, grocery stores, etc.) that they want. I have absolutely no problem with this project, or most of the other low end projects. What I do have a problem with is this expectation that it is building a critical mass to attract businesses. This is not the demographic they are looking for.
  4. Nice building, but wonder why developers always refer to anything with multiple floors as a “tower”?
  5. Interesting that your SWAG has a definite suburban tilt to it. Because of the parking issues downtown, wondering if we’ll start seeing the suburbs start to gain ground in landing larger developments.
  6. Speaking of taller, in one of the renderings it shows a building approximately 18 stories tall. Is that someone taking artistic liberties, or will they actually have something that tall?
  7. Kind of hard to have a park when it is completely submerged every spring.
  8. Great idea, but cost prohibitive. The cost per space goes up exponentially when building underground vs above ground.
  9. Was just in Huntington, WV. They have a similar development called Pullman Square http://www.pullman-square.com/. If the Celebration Cinema development turns out as nice as this, it will be a real asset for the city.
  10. I agree that if it was in a dead zone that office use is better than empty space. But you are talking about GR’s “Main Street” here. You shouldn’t be putting in non transparent uses(what first floor office doesn’t have at least blinds covering the windows) in where millions of dollars and years of renovation has tried to make a vibrant area.
  11. My money is on Atlanta. Runner up would be Austin.
  12. To build on this point, the majority of people attending conventions at DeVos are from Michigan, who drive instead of fly to get here. The reason for this is that most of the events held at the convention center are statewide conventions or consumer shows. Very few of the events draw people in that would need to fly here.
  13. I believe the Alpine/4 Mile location is closed.
  14. But as much as people can wish, push, promote, cajole, and threaten, most people will always look down on and refuse to ride the bus. It does not have the same cache as riding the rail does. No matter how technologically advanced and sexy they try to make the bus system. Not saying I share that view, but that does seem to be the prevailing attitude.
  15. Cedar Springs Brewing Co comes pretty close.
  16. Very sterile. Hope they do some great things inside the building, because the outside doesn't do anything for that corner.
  17. One thing I am wondering regarding empty parking spots - Because the monthly parking pass holders have already paid for their spot, doesn't the city have to hold a certain number of spots open for them? So if you are seeing open spots at any given time, could those already be spoken for?
  18. As long as it has turrets and dormers.
  19. It would be nice to have an out of state firm get it, if their proposals are worthy. Just to get some outside investment and perspective in the market. Rockford has done well, but it seems their final product is always value engineered down to something less than what they originally proposed.
  20. The problem with that location is it would keep that area devoid of ground level retail/restaurants. Can't imagine the police department letting any other use other than their own use on the ground floor of a building that they occupy.
