  1. Yeah, i have thought about that but i really love living in Ghent. Its a 5 minute/$5.00 cab ride DT and you really get that city feel down there. I'm just gonna wait till i can afford a condo or somthing DT.
  2. I wish there was a middle, but i cant seem to find one. So, i rent.
  3. That one picture of Norfolk from a birds eye view in 1930 is incredible. It is so dense and city like. It is so sad to see how much of a city norfolk was and how they demolished just about EVERYTHING. Very, very sad. It makes you wonder what Norfolk could have been if that never would of happend....
  4. H-town is HHHUUUGGEE! There the 4th biggest city I think, at least in the top 6. But I do hear what your saying, It is possible.
  5. But the thing is that the FTA will never see a need for Transit if there are 10 towers DT. Once we make ourselves into a more respectable DT, they might then see the need for mass transit. Right now, our DT is tiny compared to other much smaller cities. We need to first build up our city, then that in turn will develop the need for mass transit. Nobody respects HR in the means of a "Major Metro" area. Even though I/we do feel that we are. We need towers.
  6. Yeah, untill a developer comes up with just what Norfolk wants and flashes the right amount of cash. that plot of land will be a goner!
  7. Yeah, I do think thats it. they need to scrap that whole area and Scope and start over. That land is not being put to use. There is also an open lot right directly beside Macauthur mall that is just sitting there not being used for anything, not even benches. A developer could easily fit a tower there. The foot print is probably as big as trader, if not bigger.
  8. That would be great! There is Prime real estate on Montecello(sp?) that is either parking garage, open fields or parking lots. they could prob. fir 5 or 6 towers just on that road.
  9. I think there meaning single standing parking garages. I doubt the city would stopa 40 story tower from being built cause they want to build a parking garage underneath the building. If they do want to stop all parking garages, and lose out on a potential tower, that would be crazy. I dont see that happening. I think they want people to stopp using extra land to build a parking garage. That makes sence to me.
  10. I 2nd that! You can also try to hit 21st street or colley ave. for a relaxed/chill time. Solo, when's the last time you went DT to Granby st?
  11. Me Too!!! But, even thats getting repetitave(sp?). I cant wait till DT starts expanding away from Granby.
  12. Thats exactly what I was thinking. Any new busniess coming to DT should be on the bottom of a high or mid rise tower. Thats what gives a city the real "city" feel. Thats what Norfolk lacked for so long. But, were finally starting to turn the tide!
  13. Best Buy???? Not unless its in the bottom of a tower! I dont think i want any kind of box building DT. You agree Rus?
  14. Just in case you wanted to know. What you are saying sounds like any other "big city" in america. Wanna vist a "ghetto" city, try Baltimore. That place is a sh*t hole! i love to visit, but im glad i dont live there. And, personally, I liked to be mentioned as the "East coasts L.A". I think its pretty cool. I'll take it!
  15. Which one are you talking about?
  16. How would ghent hold up traffic? What traffic are you talking about? They could run a few stops up hampton blvd then down colley and back down through the Hague. there would be so many people riding that to get to their jobs DT. a lot of the people who live in ghent work DT. Also, there is a large population around there. All of the ghent/colley/west ghent sections is all apartment complexes and that houses a lot young professionals who would actually ride the LR, if it were there. alot of the old people aren't gonna ride it. They are going to have to make it easily accessable for people to ride. this Should not be only a source for commuters to ride. Thats what its starting to sound like. it need to be transportation for mornings, and nights and weekends. To make the LR a success they need to have people riding the LR consistantly. I think that they would have many more riders if they could use that young population to ride the LR. Which means it is a success. I would use it to get to and from DT, but now I would'nt because i'd have to walk all the way up to sentara, im already half way to DT. Why get on for a few stops. It does'nt seem logical to stop at Norfolk General. In all honesty, i think it should go like i stated before but also down bramblton to pick back up at 264 towards Va beach.
  17. I cant either! Im so ready for this announcement. I only wish they would get the line to go up a little furhter into ghent. there is so many people in the ghent area that would ride, why would they stop at the medical center?
  18. I gotcha', i was just saying, you are just usually instant with replies. I work on a cpu aswell, im pretty fast at replies but it really depends on work ya know?
  19. Where are they? On a side note, are you at work during the week normally? do you work on a cpu?
  20. Man, you are talented!! Try to get some from the 464 side while going 55 MPH around a turn.
  21. Thats where i think our skyline looks the best. Actually, from the 464 bridge in chesapeake going into Norfolk. DT looks much more dence. it has shots of portsmouth, lots of the industrial parts of northern chesapeake, and the Berkley bridge mixed in in with the downtown shots. it makes it look much more urban. I would liket o get some of those, but its hard to get it when your driving and hanging out the window at the same time.
