  1. Russ, i have the same dream, but in mine we ride the metro to and from the game and we stop in downtown to eat dinner at a special resturant. i also want to do that with my grandchildren aswell. It will happen, the day has to come. i plan on that happening before i die. i have about 70 years left.
  2. Lack of a major looking downtown area, population, and public transportation(Rail). Like I have said before, all the 7 cities trying to "1 up" the next (Va beach & Norfolk mainly) is hurting the area as a whole. As long as we have Va Beach and Norfolk battling, this area will never grow, or look like it should. We get no respect because we hold each other down. Each city has their own agenda.
  3. Nah man, i was just making a joke.
  4. Yeah, there not just gonna say, "Ahh, screw it, lets just burn the Bi*ch down." "Everybody pick up your sh*t, or whats left of it, and find a new home".
  5. I cant believe that i never filled this out! im 25 - born in Depaul hospital(Norfolk), lived in south norfolk till 1st grade, then moved to Great Bridge(chesapeake). grew up in Great Bridge went to ODU, lived at ODU, now, i live(rent) in ghent. I work for State Farm as an Sales associate.
  6. hahahahah!!! Funny post hobo!
  7. "You aint got no love fo' da' 7-5-7?"
  8. Im down with that! That thing is nasty, old and way outdated.
  9. well, to simplify, when the rates increase(which they will, matter of time) and the people bought house way out of their means have those intrest only or ARM loans they cant refinance or afford the house anymore. they have to sell the house for less than they owe and much lower than they bought it for. they end up losing money day by day that they just settle and sell the house as fast as possible. starts a chain reaction with millions of people nationwide, and then the market is wide open for people to buy a cheap house. so it kind of have a reverse effect of the market today. Lesson: dont mortgage with an intrest only or an Arm loan unless you plan on being in your house for less than 3 years. Get a fixed 30/20 year mortgage.
  10. I have always thought that downtown needed more retail and shops on all first level buildings. we need more busniesses(sp?) and less 1st level homes downtown. bring people out of the woodwork and out into the city. Good Article.
  11. Well, if they do demolish all the way to tidewater dr, thats a crap ton of space to work with. You could literally fit at least 10 towers in that space if the city wanted. If not more.
  12. Screw Mid-rise. No more little stuff. We need to spread downtown out!
  13. Well, on a serious note, What else could/would they do?
  14. They gotta be! What else are they gonna do there? Out with the old...in with the new TOWERS!!!
  15. Yeah, i hear what your saying and i appreciate this area for that too, but, i would trade out "7 cities" for 1 Huge City! But thats just my opinion.
  16. Yeah, Scope Sucks!!!!!!!!!! I agree with what your saying and have been saying that for a long time!
  17. YEAH...Them too! Thanks Hobo!
  18. Hey Rus - i know and understand completely! I guess im just upset about the whole situation. its just kind of Depressing. ya know. Football just seems like it would be the easiest for full attendance(only 8 home games and football draws top crowds, no matter what). football would sell itself. all tha other professions have somany games, its hard to keep attendance up all the time(baseball). and truthfully, i wanted a pro baseball team, but i know we would'nt suppot great attendance during the day/week night games.
  19. Man, i had never seen portland like that! that is one nice city. i love that there are no pictures of building that dont have shops of some kind underneath them. the street cars are great too! it also seems like there are just a lot of people out and around the city. Rus - it would be awesome to see norfolk like that in 10 years. i have a huge, deep, want/urge to live in a city like that. i am so envyous(sp?) of cities like Portland. i want that to happen to norfolk. hurry please! Hopefully, one day...one day. i think our biggest problem is that we're(7 cities) so spread out across the region. and like i have said, if Norfolk and Va beach teamed up to have 1 downtown and had all of TC's stuff in DT norfolk, we would be a major player in 5 or so years. now, its like were battling each other. This is depressing, im going back to work.
  20. Who wants to go to a AAA baseball game or hockey game and watch a bunch of no-name players? everyone knows when theres someone coming off Major League DL for the tides or their opponents, the attandence skyrockets! Why? Cause there is a big league player to watch. i like going to the tides games and admirals games. but, i'd go a lot more if it was professional sports. who would'nt go to see the yankees play the Norfolk "whoevers". i'd be there just to see jeter(future hall of famer) play ball. Attendance will never be like what a major league sports team draws. it will never happen.
  21. Why not???? your right...not right now, but maybe in the future, right? for gods sakes Buffalo has a freakin NFL team. they have nothing else and a population that is almost half ours. they dont deserve a football team. why did they get one?
  22. 1. Who is to say the NFL wont Expand someday? 2. (sarcastic) Was there just a team in LA a few years ago? What happend to it? 3. yeah it would take a whole crap-load of money. but whos to say whats going to happen with this area inthe near future. Thats just a few moguls/FT 500 type companies to invest some money. albeit, a lot of money, but its possible.
  23. I still dont understand why football is automaticly out. Someone please give me some reasons.
  24. I agree! it'll take a few years to catch up to Charlotte. but by then, they would have added a few more!
