  1. Also, to expand on this, I'd kill to see the NLL give GR a shot. The NLL is box lacrosse. It's the national sport of Canada. Box lax is played on hockey rinks with turf on them. The NLL is regional, but in places it's caught on, it's huge. For example, Buffalo's NLL team plays in a 19,000 seat NHL arena. And they almost sell out all the time. I have no idea if indoor lax would be a huge draw here, but I sure as heck would go to games..maybe even get season tickets.
  2. Yeah. They are often forgotten about because their affiliation is with Denver, and no longer Detroit. I'm not sure they survive. I hope they do. And minor league basketball has never been as big as minor league baseball/hockey
  3. People like the WhiteCaps because that's the future of the Tigers. You see many future Tigers play for the Caps. And the Griffins, same with the Wings. People enjoy that. The AHL is one of the top hockey leagues in the world.
  4. This is what the people want. Mixed use buildings that add to the streetscape. I want this in more places, not just north Monroe (Campau ramp, I'm looking at you)
  5. Corewell has the chance to help build a really connected and vibrant neighborhood. In which their presence is a positive. They need to be made aware of this opportunity.
  6. As a huge sports fan, I have a huge problem with the WhiteCaps being a high A franchise. Ideally, it should be the Tigers AA club. But the Midwest league has something good going, so that's not going to happen.
  7. If corewell was smart, they would include a concrete plan of a residential tower near its headquarters that would begin virtually immediately. Market it for their professionals that work next door and start from there.
  8. I have a friend whose property butts right up to that property and I always tease him that the city is building a 40 story tower that's going to look down on his house.
  9. Are these apartments? South side of Fulton between Jefferson and LaGrave.
  10. I know I keep updating, but I got some new angles. I still feel this is slightly underwhelming for that corner and the demand for housing. But I suppose it beats a vacant, weedy corner.
  11. If they are building a soccer stadium, the playing field will easily support American football. A soccer pitch is larger than a football field.
  12. Maybe this is too simple, but grant permission for surface lots and make stipulations that half must be built out within 5 years, and the other half within 10.
  13. Right, but this could be the perfect chance to make the jump and maybe get in a traditional powerhouse or mid tier conference. I think GVSU in the MAC would be a great fit. Natural rivalry with Western and Central. I know I'm dreaming big here.... but why not?
  14. The soccer stadium project is not dead. It's very much alive. https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2023/10/new-agreement-guides-planning-for-proposed-grand-rapids-soccer-stadium.html
  15. I feel like a bad experience or if a place treats their staff poorly is a valid post subject to avoid a place
  16. Rumor has it Slows at the Market is closing for good Sunday. I'm trying to find a credible source for this but that's the word on Reddit right now.
  17. A Juice bar is opening up in the former Electric Hero space on Ottawa. I can't remember what was there after.
  18. Ideally, they'd tear down those two, and combine them into one tower, and use the new space for the convention center hotel. And for the calder on top of the county building. Why not remove the roof, and use it as the new "floor" of a revamped calder plaza? Place it under acrylic so it can be seen and protected.
