  1. It says 1 acre outdoor area and mentions a playground! Maybe it isnt pictured but that should be a pretty decent size beirgarten.
  2. On my most recent lap around the perimeter of CNE I did a count of how many trees they have planted. They have done 3 of the 4 sides surrounding the development(Woodward, n. Graham and Sylvania) with the last stretch(Statesville) left being one of the longest and already counted 120. They were also replanting all the giant movable wooden planters that have a tree as the center piece. I wonder what the total will be once the whole 76 acres is developed.
  3. Bestco used to be one of my customers before I went full time Dad. They seemed like a great company that had a cool history. I always loved going down the menthol cough drop line, always opened up the sinuses. I knew this expansion was coming but wasn't aware it was that large. They did merge with another "nutraceutical" company not to long back that I believe was also their biggest competitor at the time. They were based out of California so it was definitely cheaper for them to move any and all operations this direction.
  4. Yea I looked back at and remembered this layout. Just wondering if maybe there were some new details at all.
  5. Just saw this post by Ascent Real Estate, I know that residential is coming but it mentions 300 multifamily units in design phase. Anyone know where to dig up some details on this!?
  6. Saru closed due to family reasons from what I understand, not because of any lack of business. Things have slowed down now that we are in the middle of winter and the Van Gogh exhibit closed but I think there is still enough traffic to justify being open most weeknights if you have a good product.
  7. Little unsure how the formatting will work once I hit post, but I will try and describe them in order. 1 - Looking down Woodward Ave towards Statesville. New street lamps and trees have gone in all along this stretch as well as the North Graham and Sylvania ave(no trees yet). Heist Barrel Arts on the right. 2. - View from North end of the parking lot, N Graham and Woodward ave. DEC2 filling in a nice gap. 3. - Looking down the tracks, new parking garage but they saved a piece of the original building that they will work into the façade somehow. Can see some of the new window and door framing on the building closest and to the right. 4. - Straight on shot at some of the new window and door framing. You can also see some of the interior work as well 5. - Looking down Keswick ave at the area that will be the four new food concepts mentioned in the axios article. 6. - Opposite end of the same new food stall area. Really like how and where they decide to make large cut outs of the existing building to creat new spaces. This is directly beside Free Range Bar. 7. - Building behind new food stalls and before parking deck. Looks like some new beams have gone in and there are some metal staircases you can see in the foreground. Cant wait to see how this turns out. 8. One of the latest murals done during the Talking Walls art festival this past year. @artbyabel is the artist.
  8. https://charlotte.axios.com/286672/scoop-4-black-owned-restaurants-coming-to-camp-north-end-this-summer/ More expansion announcements at CampNorthEnd. Owner's of Leah & Louise are opening 4 more new concepts. I walk around the perimeter of CNE almost daily, been a ton of fun lately watching all the rapid change. New pedestrian street lights and trees going in around the entire 76 acres. The building where the event hosting space is going is really coming along nicely, new windows, interior walls going up, parking deck. I am still trying to confirm but I believe Saru Ramen has closed which is a bummer, that had quickly become my favorite go to lunch spot. Ill try and do a better job of getting some progress pictures as I stroll through daily.
  9. CNE has added a neat new attraction. Camp North Beach. Made a mock up of a little beach setting in one of their empty lots. Good use of space temporarily and will most likely be the sight of the free music on the weekends. Always fun to see the different additions to this development.
  10. I went to UNC Charlotte with Justin the guy who started this brand. His family have been into new ventures like this for as long as I have known him. Very cool!
  11. When you left campus, did you actually drive down University City blvd and not North Tryon to start? The line terminates on campus and turns immediately out onto North Tryon from campus.
  12. Craziest thing! I have wild Spanish moss growing on one tree outside my townhouse on the north end of town. Its directly across the street from a storm water run off/creek. The entire street is lined with the same kind of trees(american beach I think). So far I havent found another single tree with any on it and the patch on mine is very small but still living it seems. My thoughts are maybe it was on the tree when planted? Never seen it growing live up this far north!
  13. I would LOVE for another grocery store to be a part of that development. I live in this area and also suffer from the lack of a decent grocery store. I can honestly say I have never been in Wayne's but would imagine it leaves a lot to be desired when compared to a modern store. The 4th ward Harris Teeter is lacking a lot itself. I typically go to the monster HT over on South Blvd.
  14. This is exciting! Great views right down North Tryon by that side of CampNorthEnd. Curry Gate the little Indian Restaurant on that corner is excellent. Would love to see someone develop that Wayne's super market lot.
  15. The tacos are done in partnership with Chilito Tacos. They have been doing weekend pop ups at Resident Culture and other places around town for some time. They are excellent!! Definitely worth chcking out. Ive also noticed NoDa Brewing regularly announcing expanding the territory they distribute too. Most recently down to Myrtle Beach market. Glad to see them growing!
  16. @Mgelbach your pictures just have a different level of pop to them!! Awesome shots.
  17. Upon further research it does appear that the funding approved is just for design/investigation. I still stand by my statement in the form of opinion however.
  18. Yea I have traveled that stretch of Graham for most of my adult life and it is awful. You would have to imagine with what is coming for the Gateway station, light rail and the general growth that this road has got to see an update sometime in the near future. I also wonder how much longer all those old apartments and condos along Graham between like 8th and 5th can last? Many look like they are in considerable disrepair.
  19. What do you mean exactly? There is zero chance the Silver Line doesnt happen at this point.
  20. North Graham is getting completely re-worked up to and beyond CNE. All the roads into, out of and around CNE will be getting some form of new sidewalks, bike lanes, medians etc. 16th street should be opening some time in the near future. Not technically a direct street but the closest we will get until they do something with the railyard. The last picture shown is already out dated. The sidewalks there are all brand new and twice as wide now.
  21. I have nothing to base this off of but that seems crazy cheap?
  22. Interesting insight and thoughts @ertley I live in Brightwalk and frequent the NoDa area. Better connectivity between these two neighborhoods would have a huge impact. Does anyone know what the plans for 16th is long term? Other than 16th we have to go up to Matheson or inside 277 to get over to that side. A grocery store of any kind anywhere between those two neighborhoods would do really well in my opinion. I typically drive over to Southend or even up to Harris Blvd to shop at a decent store. The HT just inside 277 just doesnt cut it.
  23. Cool post @tarhoosier! I grew up in Huntersville and we used to drive out to Neck rd late on the weekends and take girls to the cemetery and down the dirt road to scare them! I even wrecked my first car down that road driving like a doofus!
