  1. This is great news! I feel like they could almost do something "semi-permanent" in one of the older buildings not yet scheduled for renovation instead of just doing tents in a parking lot. Either way, looking forward to walking across the street for fresh veggies!
  2. This is so cool! I just recently sold my house in Derita and I grew up in Huntersville. I always called it downtown because I always drove "down south" to get to it. Knowing now that I lived very very close to the highest point in Charlotte gives me even more reason to go against the Uptown moniker!
  3. 30 is major understatement. I agree completely that its not as large as most believe but there is easily 100+ people living on the streets between N. Davidson and N. Graham along 12th. I also believe there is an over abundance of "day to day need" assistance provided to them. I see tons of food waste, clothes waste, shelter waste all because many organizations target those symptoms of homelessness and not the root cause.
  4. Stunning pictures as usual @Mgelbach I think this building is far from ugly for its overall ordinary shape.
  5. This sounds like a very cool idea! One based on Charlotte history for sure would be cool. Could even have it tailored to certain areas that highlight items specific to that physical location along with where it was in time.
  6. I like how that one electric tower extends up into the skyline in the shape of a cool building. Would be awesome to have something actually that size and shape filling that void in the skyline!
  7. Two shots from north of town with Truist lit up last night. From CNE parking lot on Statesville and Matheson ave bridge.
  8. Very nice! We got the same rate from BB&T but it was only for a year. Then it went back to prime. May have to follow your lead! Thanks,
  9. Interesting! We just paid down our balance on a HELOC with BB&T/Truist that we got earlier this year. I wanted to close it out but my wife convinced me to keep it open. What kind of rate did you get at Third Federal if you dont mind me asking? We felt out rate with BB&T was really good but all in all wasnt happy with the service and hoops we had to jump through to pay off the balance.
  10. Helped a neighbor move into the Museum Tower yesterday. 18th floor with some pretty awesome views. Last picture is from my house of the new Truist Tower sign. Still not a fan of it at all BUT it looks a lot better illuminated at night than it does during the day. I didnt realize initially the actual sign would light up also.
  11. The Cream of the Crop is a great cream ale and not what I would consider "out there" at all!
  12. This is awesome! I've heard of the general plans from many different folks but this finally helps me visualize it all! Any one find any further details other than just this picture? Would like to better understand some of the make up of the multifamily housing.
  13. Stopped by Petty Thieves brewery last night. Very impressed. They did a great job with the interior, adding a bunch of old looking woodwork and a bit of a gothic feel to the décor. I had their nitro porter, lower on the end of ABV but it was a great beer. The view off the patio is one of the best for breweries in town if you ask me!

  15. Hey @KJHburg it looks like something very similar to what you hoped for is starting this thursday! They are doing movies outdoors for the next couple weeks. Two different movies at 7 and then 9! At 400 Camp Rd which I believe is the old Ford Building or what they call Raceway?
  16. The interior looked very interesting when I stopped by on Monday. Was hoping they would sell me some to-go beer for softball but they were hard at work setting up the taproom still. Definitely will stop by there this weekend. Im about burnt out on Heist Barrel Arts current offering. Anyone know when Free Range at CampNorthEnd is supposed to open?
  17. Any details on these? Drive past them a good bit. Look pretty small, I thought they could be government funded/subsidized housing.
  18. Yes! Porters and stouts year round for me. My favorite thing is to find good porters to mix with Sugar Creek's Raspberry beer. Great combination!
  19. I work for an industrial supplier that is just further down Mint st from this picture. Every time we have had senior leadership visit in the past couple years I have asked about us considering selling as this area continues to boom. We have historically owned the properties that we operate out of and this location has been around a good while. I do see another entity outside of ours listed when I look it up on Polaris 3G though, so its possible we dont fully outright own this one either. I just imagine for as long as we have been there we are sitting on a gold mine.
  20. Right now unless I am going into the the city then I really only cross over Statesville. I can access Nevin rd from Brightwalk neighborhood side streets and that gets me to NoDa but those streets are very narrow with bad sidewalks. I would be fine with any type of trail or lane from the city out to just CNE and then something going more east-west that would have easier access to the lightrail/railtrail. Im not specifically advocating for a road diet, I just think we need better non-vehicle infrastructure on this end of town. Hope business is going well for you!
  21. Fairly certain we are talking about the same area. Just rode my bike up and took this picture. Certainly still a lot of parking lot space open just think it would be a stretch for a drive in movie theater.
  22. I dont think he is at the level to suggest any type of change unfortunately. Just overseeing the day to day operations. Mind sharing what business you own? Always trying to keep my money spent as local as possible! I do understand your frustration with taking a lane from a major north-south corridor. I am one of the bike riders you probably do see from time to time though and protected bike access into the city and in the direction of NoDa would go a long way for keeping my car parked a lot more. The bike lanes as is are a disaster anyways due to lack of funding from the NCDOT to be able to clean them.
  23. When was the last time you drove by? That area is already under construction to some degree. All the exterior fencing is down, trees are being removed by the roads and the work to expand the Oaklawn/Statesville intersection is already underway. There is a lot of space in the parking lot on the North Graham side too though.
  24. Thank you Tarhoosier! Been lurking for a good bit but finally had something to add. So much great information here. I believe the more of Statesville will be like that in the long term. Not sure if it will be down to one road the whole way through but better sidewalks, bike lanes and medians are what he described to me as in the plan for both Statesveill and North Graham, just not sure how far up those roads it will go. Next time I see him I will see what further information I can get.
  25. To my understanding, Oaklawn is in the process of being extended to go through the intersection with Statesville and into that main parking lot. I have a good friend who is overseeing some of the road work all throughout CNE as well as North Graham and Statesville coming out of the city. All roads are getting updated, North Graham and statesville will get similar work to what North Tryon is seeing now. Im sure your idea is to some degree temporary but I have a feeling that large parking lot is going to see a lot of changes in the coming months/year. I currently live in some of the newer townhomes in Brightwalk that are closest to CNE.
