  1. This is from 2018 but rings true today https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-an-american-airlines-monopoly-works-for-charlotte-1519225740 Our fortress hub is what saved CLT.
  2. I would just be happy for a widebody to LAX, SFO, and SEA as a guy that makes those trips pretty regularly.
  3. They're doing cargo runs right now but they also have a habit of changing cargo routes into full service routes. Lots of the Fortune 500 companies have operations in India and end up on Qatar anyway via ATL/BOS/PHL, would make sense to have a route.
  4. Not accurate. You would need 4 more towers at a minimum. This tower will be mostly tech.
  5. Would love a direct doha flight from CLT. Opens up a lot of possibilities. Would love it even more if they were third freedom flights.
  6. Yeah, right of way and freight bypass of stations occurs all over PA, NJ, NY, CT, etc. No reason it wouldn't work here. I can't see the red line operating more than every 20 minutes during the busiest of times so plenty of wiggle room.
  7. I appreciate them leaving the Red Line, keeping my hopes up.
  8. RNO isn't a bad add, it's the best entry point for Lake Tahoe.
  9. These jokers should have played SimCity growing up. There's nothing worse than a lack of transfers.
  10. Terminal and E gates are humming along. Looks like the concrete foundations for the canopy are ready for the next stage.
  11. The campus is huge and (pre-covid) filled to capacity, you probably need 3-4 more of these to move but I wouldn't be surprised if they opt to expand further in Charlotte if the building proves successful in attracting talent They already have a number of floors in the Grant Thornton too that seem to be sticky.
  12. It's a domestic flight, uses the Euro, etc. All of France's overseas regions operate this way. https://insideflyer.com/2019/06/17/break-down-of-longest-domestic-flights/
  13. Yeah, 787 base for the East is PHL. Doubt they will put one in CLT any time soon with the new 777 base they just opened here.
  14. Looks like the new campus is already impacting property values. And according to the article research park has over 75000 employees and 23 Fortune 500 companies. Charlotte Observer: Apartments sell for record as Centene HQ spurs north Charlotte real estate windfalls. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article247894195.html
  15. Without gate expansions additional competition is very tough. Maybe by 2025ish when destination CLT is nearing completion we'll see some United expansion. Doubt we see Delta expand because of ATL. Jetblue will probably avoid, same with Alaska as they're avoiding competing routes due to new code share agreements. Spirit, Southwest, Frontier will probably continue expanding. Would really love some international competitors but I can't see anyone but BA or Qatar showing up. As long as AA exists CLT will be it's second hub.
  16. I've already had recruiters for Centene reach out to me. Maybe as they recruit into Charlotte in anticipation of their campus build out this route could see a decent load factor. Temporary office space is already expanding for them here.
  17. Yeah, PHLs international terminal is very nice by comparison but their AMEX lounge is tiny. Their regional wing (E?) is nice too but the rest of PHL could use work. Nothing worse than getting shoved into a B gate at the end where 140+ passengers are trying to get onto a 321 in a space made for a CRJ. Today, CLT simply can't handle the amount of INTL traffic that PHL can and until that changes AND the 321neos are delivered I think we will be stuck going to DFW/PHL/SEA for anything but the larger destinations.
  18. With Uptown steadily filling the 277 loop we should expect zoning to be updated for more high and mid rise buildings in more locations. South End is the first stop but it's really only a matter of time before out starts spilling out everywhere. I don't have strong feeling one way or another but eventually those one story building owners will sell to developers who want to throw 10, 20, 30 stories on that lot.
  19. I'd quit AA in a heartbeat if I could book Mint direct from CLT.
  20. E expansion is going to be a bit elevated to allow for larger planes and jetways. I would guess 319s are gonna be shuffled down there... A lot of CLT flights are going to be upgauged by AA.
