Another bar/restaurant bites the dust
steve_o replied to Miesian Corners's topic in Charlotte Coffee House
I was once asked to leave because my 2 hour bar stool reservation window had ended. We were the only people there at 7pm... Then handed a check with a 6% fair wage/employee medical surcharge at the bottom. Somewhat amazed it was open this long. -
Fully agree - as an owner of one of the new builds.

Legacy Union (former Charlotte Observer redevelopment)

Isn't the buyer of Duke's Church St building doing this? -
Not disagreeing but PLEASE let's start with "legalizing" Happy Hour. Maybe that will save it.

Love what they've been doing to both St. Pete and downtown Tampa over the past few years. The Edition Hotel is amazing. I don't love Florida in general (and have had a home there for over 20 years) but they have a vibe that I wish Charlotte would grow into having just a sliver of.

Rumor has it: Robinhood just pulled out of its lease, cancelled the NC incentives and let go of its local employees.

Had the same experience. Brought guests from out of town and was embarrassed. It felt like a typical low end chain in a nondescript box. Threw most of my food/coffee away.

I was caught up in range as well. Really like the Audi e-tron (s version) but the range on a Tesla is nearly double so put in an order for a Model S (before last price increase). Downside, it "may" be available sometime in late 2022 or sometime 2023. At 375+ miles, is there really a need to charge at an office? It takes 20-25 minutes to charge back to 80% at a super charger. I don't quite understand the overall concern that would push someone into rushing to an office early to get their charge.

Plus there will be a train platform next to this building at some point. Makes sense.

Think I remember seeing something about Dole quietly moving its HQ to Charlotte. Yesterday they merged with Total Produce to form the world's largest fresh produce company with its US base in Charlotte: https://charlotte.axios.com/248296/worlds-largest-fresh-produce-company-grows-charlotte-hq/

Think the Earthfare on Orange is re-opening.

Duke is sending out notices to all employees that all buildings are on lockdown for a potential shooter uptown right now. UPDATE: False alarm.

Walk-able condo locations in Charlotte
steve_o replied to mike_fiveoh's topic in Charlotte Coffee House
Im at the Ashton and think its fantastic. $2500 should get you some sort of 2 bedroom. Location can't be beat. Why people (myself included) find it hard to leave... -

Only explanation is jobs. Downtown Orlando massively lacks corporate business spenders. Its a shame because it's a great place.

Went to the tiny "Kathi Rolls" (Indian street food) for lunch today. All I can say is WOW! Had the lamb/beef tikka roll and a side of beef keema loaded fries. MUST TRY! This place is fantastic despite its crappy location on Curry Ford rd between an Amscot & pawn shop. If your looking for something authentic, not too pricey in a local mom and pop place this is a must try. The owners were there and so inviting and excited to be serving this stuff.

A friend of mine works the wedding reception/banquet side at the Orlando GB and they are all envious of what is coming to Charlotte. Give it time and let them finish. The details will make it. I watched them build this one in the early 2000s. It came together at the end - when it was labeled as a "WESTIN" Grand Bohemian.

The Orlando Bohemian is nearly 20 years old and in need of a refresh.

As long as they don't ruin it by adding too much... Added a pic above.

Not sure if this has been discussed anywhere but had the chance to try the newly opened "Cavo's" (original Graffiti) on Washington. Have to say their limited menu was fantastic and I'd definitely go back. Had a chicken cutlet sandwich and gravy fries. Simple but nailed it. Had I not been at a steakhouse the night before, I would have gone for one of their 3 steak sandwiches that looked amazing. Place was packed with high energy. Solid addition that will do well in TP (which needs it - BAD).
