  1. Honestly, I'm not overly concerned for myself, but I would like to see maybe two regular runs leaving Mooresville and making a central stop or two in Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville into Charlotte around 11:00 am (daily) and 6:00 pm (daily). with a return run leaving uptown Charlotte around 11:00 pm. I have different reasons for which all are probably arguable, so I won't mention them. Additionally, Saturday and Sunday game runs should be added to the pretend schedule. I think that to accomplish these, the state and/or local government would need to think outside of the city perimeter and help accommodate all of the citizens and newcomers to the north (Lake area).
  2. These days, you "only" see busses that make express runs to uptown. The buses between Davidson. Huntersville, and Cornelius seem to have disappeared. If one works uptown, it is possible to rely on the bus system. I would like to think that it is possible to take a bus into town to see a play, go for a pub crawl, or just to walk around after normal business hours and not rely on Uber. Also, we have handicapped and elderly people here as well that need to get to the doctor's office or the hair dresser, etc. When I moved to town, we even had the "Party" buses at the Galway Hooker that have relocated. I enjoy living where I do and have no desire to move; however, when I saw the house I (my wife) liked when looking everywhere for a permanent settlement, we were impressed by the walkability of our present community and the plans to have a light rail. It was pretty thematic for me that those plans went down the drain. Finally, when I was growing up, my family moved regularly in the metro area (westside). We lived on Rozzell's Ferry Road, Tuckaseegee Road (way out) , Grandin Road (Wesley Heights), Westchester, Westerly Hills, and other areas that are considered as "poorer" areas today. Trust me, they weren't luxurious when I lived there. These areas haven't changed that much over the years. Most are reasonably well kept. We had less amenities then than there are today. Transportation wise, these areas seem to be well served in regard to buses, etc. It is possible that the limiting factor today in regard to retail or transportation is the crime factor. Public money should be used as an incentive to reward positive community actions, not a pay-off for degradation or status quo conditions. Those that pay the most taxes should certainly see substantial return on their contribution. I support for equal opportunity for "all," not necessarily the government's version. My point, we all need better transportation options. Let's take a serious look at actual needs and eliminate the politics and placation normally part of making changes or improvements.
  3. The answer to your question is yes. It still surprises me that people make statements without doing their homework. I have mentioned many times that I am from Charlotte originally. Until few years ago, I lived in places like Europe, South America, Boston, Edgewater, N.J. (metro NYC), Charleston, S.C., Miami, L.A., Minneapolis, Columbus, Oh., Santa Barbara, Ca., and all for at least a year. Over the years, I kept in touch with friends and relatives in this area and visited whenever possible. Now perhaps you can take refresher classes in math and geography and you'll understand. Yep, I am pretty much a Foder's travel book. And yes, I did a lot of different stuff too.
  4. Sorry to disappoint you, but I am hoping for better transportation in the lake area to Charlotte and around. Do you understand that "poorer" neighborhoods and "high-crime" neighborhoods are not necessarily the same in the real world. There are very nice neighborhoods in north and east Charlotte where the crime is as bad as any other.
  5. Does equitable transportation mean that we are getting better transportation service in "all" areas?
  6. It's the "slap on the hand and release" that bothers many of us.
  7. I think this would be more appropriately addressed in "Charlotte Coffee: forum? Just a suggestion.
  8. Are these properly processed immigrants or all?
  9. Zebra crossings are often a danger. People think that drivers will stop as they are crossing, and half of the time they don't. Foreigners should be warned that traffic only stops for deer and geese (sometimes). The crosswalks seem to be targets for the daring. I will not blame locals as we are a small percentage of the population. Where are the cops? I support zebra crossings. I just wish that laws demanding drivers stop for pedestrians were tougher and/or enforced.
  10. I prefer this photo to the futuristic one posted before. It's real.
  11. Have you been to NYC in the past three years. Did you happen to notice the number of homeless, piles of crap on the streets in certain areas, the increased number of morons blitzed out of their minds, and the degrading of Manhattan? The same applies to Chicago and San Francisco. I know. Remove those problems in those three cities and the murders in South Carolina, we would be just like Sweden. Problem solved.
  12. I'm not a republican. Did you consider that people might be more concerned with NYC than smaller places? NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco are model crape holes. The bluer the other places get, the more they will follow suit.
  13. Again, I ask, What do you consider the key factor? What suggestions do you have to turn things around? And finally, what is the point to your criticism? Have you consider just avoiding the place?
  14. I believe that gas powered cars are to be banned after 10 years or thereabouts. So, we will be forced to drive electric cars unless we have steam cars by then. I used to have a little boat from my cereal box I played with in my bathtub that ran off of baking soda, You will thank me later for this information.
  15. What would you consider the key factor? We could do like Northern Ireland and put a large fence between the safe and unsafe parts of dangerous cities. We could use the wall materials that are wasting away. Finally, the problem seems to not be with "poor" or "fat" South Carolinians. When I watch the news, they all seem skinny, with masks and guns. They aren't deprived. They are just lazy and stupid. They know that getting slapped on the wrist is a nice exchange for robbing a 7/11 or jewelry store. You want to stop obesity in S.C.? You should close down Ryan's buffets. Personally, I feel that South Carolina is one of the top greatest states in the U.S. Screw that fat, lazy, dangerous thugs for which you elude, everything else is great.
  16. 1. Yes, I have been banned in the past for disagreeing with liberal issues. 2. Saying that I will stop posting isn't because of you. I have stopped posting before, but being a weak man (just kidding) I came back. I feel that, like many forms of communication on this board, are dominated by the left. I think "persecuted" is not a word I would use to describe. I would say, "discriminated against." Being called an "idiot" doesn't affect me. I would gladly challenge to debate any topic intellectually. I've taught behaviorally challenged students in inner-city. I have been called lots worse names than "idiot" and I was their favorite teacher. I know that I am not a "snowflake." I'm the guy that possibly overuses that term myself. I was actually banned years ago for criticizing Cam Newton. I spoke of his inability to throw an accurate long pass and other things I saw that others wish to admit. Somehow, that made me a racist and eventual banning. I find that if you go against the grain on this message board, you won't be around very long. However, it seems to have improved over the last year or so. Final note, I think you're probably a pretty decent guy. I am at the stage that I want to avoid unfriendly confrontations. Problem is, I can't keep my big mouth shut, and that is a problem. Take care.
  17. Queen Charlotte's African ancestry was Madragana Den Aljandro. She was the partner of King Alfonso II of Portugal (my ancestor). She was the daughter of a Sharia Law Judge in Spain during the 13th century. Madragana was a beautiful white woman of Arab extraction, King Alfonso and her father were also very white despite her father being from North Africa (Arab). Over the years misleading portraits have been created misrepresenting the person for whom they were intended. King Edwards III's son, "Edward the Black Knight of Lorne" was depicted as black as was James Stuart, "The Black Prince." They word" black" was part of their title as black was the color of their armor. Great Britain, until now, has been obsessed with blood lines historically. Mixing of cultures was done in planning marriages to obtain land, fortune, or advancement in the royal circles. Social engineering in movies and television is replacing reality with quotas. History should never be distorted for the sake of placation. The past is history and it can't be changed. Even if Hollywood makes Hannibal, Queen Charlotte, Cleopatra, and Snow White, it won't make the world any better. It will just be part of their little lie. We should all be proud of what we are and if we aren't happy, strive to do better. Thanks for the photos. If you are into British wars, etc., and since you are in South London, and if you have time, check out the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth (S. London). The tube station Lambeth North Station. It is one of my absolute favorite museums in London and not crazy with tourists. Have fun.
  18. I wish to apologize for voicing my non-liberal opinion. I will now cease any further associations with this political board. Please do no respond to my messages which tempts me to respond. I really don't wish to do that.
  19. So plain English isn't your thing? "Non white" means "not white." In the future, you may want to try googling the term.
