  1. Tupelo Honey closing its South End location according to Charlotte Agenda: "TUPELO HONEY SOUTH END CLOSING: The popular Asheville brunch spot Tupelo Honey is closing its doors after seven years in South End. Its last day will be February 26, according to a statement from the restaurant Thursday. A new Tupelo Honey will open in Uptown on March 16 at 101 South Tryon..BACKGROUND: Last fall, the 2-acre South End property that includes Tupelo Honey and The Manchester was sold to a joint venture between the Florida developer Stiles and the California real estate firm Shorenstein Properties. The two companies plan to build a 23-story tower at the site, which is at the East/West Station off South Boulevard. Construction on the project is supposed to begin this year. Tupelo Honey management cited the "significant construction" of the development as one reason it'll close in South End. . CEO: "While we always planned to operate two restaurants in Charlotte, the decision to relocate to Uptown allows us to introduce our brand to newcomers and immerse ourselves into a new neighborhood, while also showing our appreciation to those that have supported us over the years,” said Stephen Frabitore, CEO and owner of Tupelo Honey."
  2. Awesome shot... how cool would it be if they demolished all of the buildings in the lot to the right of dimensional place and made it into a much needed park? I can only wish!
  3. Does anyone know when they'll start constructing the new blue line stop at Atherton Mill?
  4. It looks to me that LU2 isn't topped out like we thought. From this angle, it looks like they're working on the last floor now!
  5. I think that's where Planet Fitness is going.
  6. Uptown's Tupelo Honey actually looks promising. Full article: https://www.charlotteagenda.com/160469/tupelo-honey-in-uptown/?fbclid=IwAR0aEjh4AvnW1dn77GG80KE-bSglszFf9Q_tl6xZOTJKen1TAfteLPAX0QY
  7. Hmmm will Waldo be built by a Charlotte developer or another city developer?
  8. Per Charlotte Agenda on Facebook - "BJ's CLOSING: BJ's Wholesale Club is closing its Charlotte store in Midtown by February 1, spokeswoman Kristy Houston said in an email. The retailer has operated in its 101,000 square-foot spot at 900 Metropolitan Avenue, right below Target, since late 2015..Before it was a BJ's, the space was vacant for years. Home Depot Design Center shuttered its store in that spot in 2009, during the downturn..BJ's, which sells everything from chewing gum to batteries to snow boots at wholesale prices, is currently offering a 25 percent off store-wide sale in Midtown. Within a few weeks, BJ's also closing its store in Geneva, New York. . "These closures are based on a review of club performance as well as real estate and market evaluation," Houston said. Members will be eligible for a refund of their membership fees, she added."
  9. So happy to see them saving the trees for the park!
  10. Renderings for the new pedestrian bridge connecting South End to Uptown. Article below: https://charlottenc.gov/Projects/Pages/RailTrailBridge.aspx?NotFoundURL=https%3A%2F%2Fcharlottenc.gov%2FRailTrailBridge&Referrer=
  11. Facebook comments are always fun to sort through on there - did you see their post on the "Queens Park" and the comments? Anyway, I agree that Brookhill would be a great location for the new Panthers stadium as well. Then in the future, they could demolish the BOA stadium and put in an MLB stadium. SUPER wishful thinking!
  12. I'd love this. I also always thought the Southside Park spot would be a great spot for a MLB stadium overlooking the skyline!
  13. How long do we think it'll be until Balfour Beatty Construction moves out of the Design Center? I feel like that is prominent retail space for larger retailers like H&M, Zara, or even a Tj Maxx. I'm not sure how large the space is to be honest as I've never been inside. But from the outside, I assume it's a large space.
  14. I wish Charlotte would get a better "Eye on Tryon" Ferris wheel. It's probably a lot to ask to have something similar to London's Eye, and I know the expense and debt that caused them in the beginning. I'm not sure how I'd feel about a permanent wheel in general. What're everyone's thoughts? I do wish there was an observation deck of some sort - however, that would require a large skyscraper like BOA!
  15. https://www.cityfeet.com/cont/listing/office-space-for-lease/10-tryon-st-charlotte-nc-28202/cs4346484 10 Tryon is on Cityfeet.com's page with spaces for lease so I think this project is definitely still going to happen. Floors 2-5 are already leased it seems like (unless that's parking).
