Omg, who else just got excited seeing this thread trend thinking there was IKEA movement to Nashville? Great to hear @jmtunafish and I've considered pickup as well. I particularly like seeing certain items in person before purchase, so having a local store would be a HUGE plus but the local pickup is a great option.

Say what you want about IKEA, but my personal experience has been very positive. I've purchased a dresser, bed frame, a few tables, a chair, a coupe desks and some kitchen items all from IKEA. Their style is fresh and modern, and they've held up better than other 'lower priced' goods purchased elsewhere. The whole assemble-it-yourself concept shouts 'cheap quality' to some, but in my opinion it doesn't mean their materials are of lesser quality. Sure, it is time intensive, but at-home assembly is key to keeping their prices lower than other big box stores. Crossing my fingers this happens for Nashville!!!

You know, I have read a lot of internet nonsense over the years but these take the cake as the most complete and total whoppers of fabricated click bait I've ever seen. My favorite is most festive cities. Just look at those ranked higher than Nashville. No disrespect to ANYONE in those cities....but commmme onnnnn. Not that I had any respect for LawnStarter before but, now? Wow.

I'm sorta picking up library vibes from this design. Yes, library and maybe some Frank Lloyd Wright sprinkled in for good measure. OH I got it! A library.... designed by Frank Lloyd Wright... IF it were inside the Hickory Hollow Mall food court circa 1990! Nailed it.

This is a super interesting entry on Wiki. What's crazy is, Austin will be catapulting its way up the list by a good margin after all current construction projects are complete. In fact, I'd argue it will have one of the most spectacular skylines in the country... outside NYC and Chicago of course. I've always aspired Nashville would eventually 'catch up' to Austin with all our ongoing construction, but alas. They simply charge forward with more and more eye-popping projects, both taller and more daring, than anything in our timetable. Still waiting for a true 'signature' tower! :)

I have friends from Tampa, Jacksonville, Austin, Charlotte who have all commented on how unremarkable and architecturally displeasing our current skyline is despite the surge of infill and vertical build. I believe what Licec may be pointing to is a complete lack of a 'signature' tower to not only add height, but also character to the plethora of cracker box shapes. The 505 is the arguably the pinnacle of our current skyline. Other than height, let's be honest, it's simply not the most visually appealing structure. Don't get me wrong, infill is great, but I feel all of us who are experiencing Nashville's boom are aching for that bold, unique design element our current skyline is begging for.

I don't post much, but I had to just come on here and express my shock and horror over this "missed-use" proposal. I'll form and lead the picketing committee if you'd like. Where should we gather, on 14th or 16th?

These are beautiful designs, truly. I'm still waiting for Nashville to break the 'crackerbox' ceiling with a bold, beautiful design. The Four Seasons would have been a great opportunity, this could be our next!

Hello all. My apologies in advance if this has already been answered. But, once the roof height is met, will there be any kind of decorative lattice of sorts (not sure what it's called) that would increase the visual height above the actual roof level?- 1,920 replies

Agreed. You also have to figure in the sheer number of people with 'money' moving downtown in all the swanky high-rises. What type of lifestyle are they going to experience? Do they want to be in the midst of an endless array of deep fried this and that? Or will they expect more luxury, which is lacking? Is Nashville blending these lifestyles appropriately? There are a lot of questions poking around in my mind.

I love the design actually, I just can't get past thinking Nashville, South Carolina when I see "Nashville SC".
