  1. Although not urban, Southern oaks is still in the Sodo “area” - so that’s basically downtown living for Orlando’s standards. Regardless, it’s still refreshing to see people support their nearest Main Street district. The real problem is when people move into an area and ignore their neighbors/community, just to commute to Disney springs or the mall to spend their money. As members of the SoDo community, we should welcome our neighbors who are realistically, biking distance to a lot of SoDos most popular establishments. The “screw off” mentality seems counter productive when trying to build a marketable Main Street community. The more support the better, even if the support is coming from a traditionally un urban area.
  2. How is it backed by Shaq? Genuinely curious. Have you been there lately? Almost half of the cardio equipment is out of order and a lot of the weight machines are worn out looking, missing pieces or broken all together. It doesn’t seem like any celebrity would want to be associated with it. Maybe in it’s hay day but not in it’s current state. I actually saw shaq at the metro-west LA fitness a few years ago tho. That was cool.
  3. https://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2020/06/15/national-fitness-chain-files-for-bankruptcy.html?ana=TRUEANTHEMFB_OR&csrc=6398&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR30TIo2Iwv1NUU91JE05M4El8wwUpUknVb9xrsLyb2WUkpua9gvn_Gh7vE Sodo 24 hr fitness to close. Can’t say I didn’t see this coming. That location has fallen behind in comparison to their new locations in the Orlando area.
  4. They could transport it over I-4 via 408, maybe.
  5. No Greenwise logo on the sign, interested to see what they are going to do with this space.
  6. A few quick shots, I-4 East to 408 East
  7. Foxtail also offers mobile orders and a wider menu. They utilize local resources and often team up with other local small businesses in many locations. These are the types of businesses that help contribute to the character of Orlando and local community. Foxtail is clearly an upgrade for the space Starbucks vacated. Starbucks is still great though. They made the logical decision to move south to their new building in the shopping plaza, with more drive thru capacity.
  8. It’s official. I wonder what will happen to the half demolished original site. https://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2020/04/23/downtown-area-starbucks-to-become-foxtail-coffee.html?ana=TRUEANTHEMFB_OR&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+New+Content+(Feed)&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR3uK93kcNdSpooVBpEY7cIO9dxHwLz5tGQS26JaAZ8qPdgZ8Aj2Mx8ruRU
  9. I think it has to be a Greenwise due to the square footage of Luckys market. I don’t see why they would put a mini Publix next to one of their largest Publix in the area (sodo). The two in Dr Phillips makes sense because they are similar in size but on different corners. That makes them both appealing depending on which direction you’re driving. The sodo Luckys is literally next door to Publix on the same side of Orange ave. Plus luckys is already equipped and laid out similarly to a Greenwise.
  10. A little off topic but I feel this way in general towards Orlando’s whole skyline. When coming in from the north on I-4, the skyline has an illusion of being taller and more dense because of how so many of the dominate buildings have this same “skinny side” orientation and are closer together from east and west of each other. (Court house, suntrust, the vue, BOA, solaire and now this one). Then, when coming in from the east, on 408, you see these same buildings but they are all spaced out from north and south of each other, and are all wide and shorter looking.
  11. Orange and Holden (across from cypress grove park) would be an ideal location for an additional sun rail station. It’s basically the mid point between OH and sand lake. It would serve the southern end of sodo and also the northern end of Edgewood/belle isle which are too far from sand lake and ORMC to make sunrail worth riding for those residents. Plus there is space there for a platform.
  12. Yup, that’s their first and only location. They would also fit well in the old Starbucks space. Unfortunately they are still pretty new and probably don’t have the means to expand at the moment.
  13. How about a Sodo Credo at the old Starbucks. Also, what’s going on with the foxtail “coming soon” near ORMC?
  14. Signage added, barrier/stoops almost complete and apartment framing finally reaching street side.
