Both buildings are 6 - 7 floors with one being an apartment building and the other a hotel with a restaurant on the top floor. The designs are way too interesting to get conceptual approval this week. edit: Should have included BAR agenda link renderings start on page 72. PowerPoint Presentation (charleston-sc.gov)
  4. Courier Square Phase II again goes before the BAR this coming week for conceptual approval. Phase II is an upscale senior living facility proposed for 609 Ki ng St. I believe this is the 3rd attempt for approval.
  5. I was looking at this map again a few days ago and I wonder if there's another US city that surrounds as many donut holes as Charleston does.
  6. Per an article today in the Post and Courier, plans are underway to add 3 temporary boarding gates this summer at the end of Concourse A.
  7. I should have added the project address is 810 Meeting St where Meeting St and Morrison Drive intersect.
  8. The Montford flatiron building is up for final BAR approval at this coming week's meeting. I wish this building had another 2-3 floors.
  9. The city is seeking a full-time Annexation Planner on its employment web page. This position was eliminated several years ago. Happy to see the city getting serious about annexation again.

  12. I remember this project going through the BAR review process several years I thought the project had died.

  14. This is probably most detailed map I've seen showing Charleston's city limits. Amazing the number of donut holes (that hopefully will start going away in 2022). Map (charleston-sc.gov)
  15. Proposed 5 floor, 55-unit affordable apartment building at 678/666 King St. _12082021-7073 (charleston-sc.gov) (I can't get the BAR-L link for 12/8/21 with the architectural renderings to load.)

  18. Interesting editorial in the Post & Courier yesterday (NOV 28) concerning annexing doughnut holes in the St Andrews PSD. The editorial advocates that leaders of the PSD and the city should work together to conduct an election to have the entire PSD consolidate into the city. I doubt anything comes of this but it's at least good that the idea is being presented publicly. Editorial: Charleston should gobble up West Ashley doughnut holes, all of them | Editorials | postandcourier.com
  19. There's been several Riverland Terrance annexations over the past few months. A house here and a house there but some progress. The utility line undergrounding though might drive annexation interest in the coming months as there are advantages being in the city versus the county. There is a lot of interest on city council and the mayor to get Riverland Terrace completely in the city.
  20. I had to make a run to a Short Pump outparcel shopping center this past Saturday afternoon and was really surprised if not shocked at the number of cars at the Town Center.

  23. ^^^ NICE PICs! Thanks for sharing.
  24. Charleston City Council is finally trying to address the doughnut hole issue, mainly in West Ashley. The first step is completing an inventory of all properties that lie within the doughnut holes to get an assessment of the task at hand of eliminating them. I have my doubts this will really go anywhere but who knows.
