  1. http://www.virginiabusiness.com/news/article/cbrehampton-roads-to-lease-summit-pointe-a-new-mixed-use-development-in-che I guess I didn't realize it before until I read this article (I know 23320 mentioned it above), but this area is going to be called "Summit Pointe" .... Not sure if I like it. I feel like this is a branding mistake.
  2. Article just came out in the pilot stating that right now the tower is planned to have first floor retail, 5 levels of parking, and 10 levels of office. Confirming what Vdogg initially stated. Although the article mentioned that Armada hofler is working to find an anchor tenant, and wants them to have say in the buildings design. I get the impression that they have a tenant, but the deal isn't final yet.
  3. Where did you get the 17 year gap between phase 1 and 2? Nevermind, I think you mean the starter line completion in 2011 to 2027 for completetion of this line. Thought you were talking about this line being broke up into phases.

Not always an option for everyone. Even then, not sure what it was like coming in, however leaving looked like at least a 30 min wait to get on. That new walkway would have been nice.

Went to tides open night this past week, and it either was sold out or near it. That place is jammed when at capacity. Took 45 minutes to get off the highway, and 3 innings to order something to eat. It really is a beautiful park but in my opinion needs an expansion. At least more room for vendors, and a larger walkway. Before development takes place around the stadium they need to figure out a better way to facilitate traffic in and out of the area, maybe a parking garage for harbor park that can be entered right off the highway. Just my opinion.

The mayor of Norfolk is expected to announce a major investment/expansion of the Elizabeth River trail tomorrow April 6th at 4 pm at plum point park.
  7. That building looks likes it's in the same parcel as Lynnhaven pub. Am I mistaken?
  8. Casinos will never come to Virginia Beach. VB won't allow it, goes against their family friendly beach atmosphere.
  9. True, I do remember reading that article though and it giving the impression that something more was being planned.
  10. Lol that's so Virginia Beach, developer says that he's interested in mixed use. Then allows in a flooring store. I can't see a flooring store doing well there, when you factor in the potential rent.

  12. I don't know about you guys, but after all those announcements this weekend from Norfolk has me itching for some news out of VB. I wonder if anything as big will break at the VB state of the city on the 28th.
  13. Will this still be the second tallest tower in Norfolk after the gateway?
  14. I think the building has a real modern flair to it, really impressed. I do hope that Norfolk gov doesn't occupy it. So we get a stand alone city Hall in the future.
  15. Actually if you look back at the comments we said that ODU should try, with the likelyhood that it won't happen. But 0 percent is definitely not the case. ODU has the 4th largest enrollment of public university's in VA and is growing, UVA is 5th and Tech is 2nd (VAs two ACC schools). ODU also has the benefit of being the most popular school in a large metro area. The key would be gaining more prestige the big two sports football and basketball, which ODU will eventually do because it has more resources than most other CUSA schools. Eventually there may be a conversion, but not anytime soon. I see ECU and UCONN as the ACCs next targets for that 16th spot. You can't deny that it would be awesome to watch ACC basketball in Norfolk though, I think that actually is much more likely than a pro sports team.
  16. It would be a great fit geographically and would definitely bolster the regions image by having a team in a major sports division. ODU should go for it.
  17. ACC would definitely be better, just don't think it's realistic.
  18. While there's no denying that C-USA has helped out ODU in terms of football. I'd like to see ODU get out of the the conference in other sports. C-USA is too spread out and has hurt other sports, which don't have as much funding. In my opinion the Colonial leauge was way better for basketball, we would have an easier time getting into the tournament outside of winning the conference and it would bring back more in state rival games. I'm hoping for a revival of the Big East and for ODU to try and join that conference. It would also make more sense geographically. One of those two conferences. Would be a much better fit.

  20. Whoops. Was looking at the block on the north side of Olney. Sorry about that.
  21. Looks like a good number of historic homes exist on that block. I doubt evms will expand there unless they somehow buy those homes and turn them into student housing. I don't see anything on that block being tore down, nor should it.

Does anyone know who owns the vacant land on the corner of Granby and Brambelton. It's an open space with some street lamps awkwardly off of the sidewalk. I always thought it would be a good place for a tower.
  23. Yeah, hopefully the rezoning gets approved by council. Seems to be some upset neighbors, this might be one to watch. Hopefully it goes through. This is a good step in the diversity of the economy.
  24. The most reacently pilot article makes it seem like there is still hope. The mayor said he would be open to revote on the deal if they here financing is in place. Maybe this is their way saying come to us when it's secured without publicly putting a deadline on it. I don't know, but I still have hope.
  25. I couldn't get over the part where she said it was 90 million a mile, which is true. However, It was only around 80 million that the city was footing the bill for. Reminds me of the misleading information that the anti light rail group use to spout. Really disheartening.
