looks like we may get an announcement of what is next for town center later this year. From Armada Hofler's Q4 earnings call today. CEO Louis Haddad said: "On the redevelopment front renovations continuing the Town Center of Virginia Beach with all construction scheduled for completion this year at the Cosmopolitan apartments, Columbus village and Apex Entertainment. We anticipate returns in excess of our ground-up developments on the new investments in these properties. Beyond the engagements nearing completion and recently announced projects we are evaluating multiple new opportunities in these and other neighboring areas. Well, nothing has been finalized our expectation is that at least one of these new engagements will be ready to announce later this year." I went through the report. The person in the article relayed the info incorrectly. We are at an estimated 1.72 in 2018.

So what is the timeline here? When do they have to get the signatures by?

Hampton Blvd will continue to have major truck traffic until they build patriots crossing. Only then will they fix capacity issues.

I grew up playing ice hockey at Iceland, and still play there today. This has been in the works for a little while now and is long overdue. The 4 thousand seats part is fluff and would never work, but this is pretty much guaranteed to happen just a matter of when they finish raising the funds. They are considering two locations for the site, near the sports plex like the article says and also near the convention center. Either site would require some sort of deal with the city.

Think of the city manager as a CEO and the city council as the board members. Strategy is essential for an company or in this case a city to plan for the future and succeed. Cities are in a way in competition with one another to attract people and businesses. Cities that don't plan, respond to change, or grow become less desirable compared to other cities.

I read comments on Facebook often and it is already rediculous. The city (VB) posts stuff and people comment about entirely unrelated things bashing the city. Sometimes I wonder if people in our area are unique in their NIMBY mindset, there seems to be lots of pushback on every little thing.

This area is going be really cool. However, that long white wall which I think is the backside of the Dollar tree warehouse looks ugly and out of place. I hope they can build store fronts or break it up with some trees or something.

Lane construction bus the contractor assigned to the 264 interchange and witchduck Rd project for VDOT. Part of the project is to build an overpass across the highway connecting Greenwich Rd and Cleveland St. It's right next to top golf.

The Eastside transit study (basically military highway) is suppose to be a 2 year long study which started sometime last year. I think we have about another year to hear it's results. There hasn't been any news on light rail since westside study ended last year.

Drive past the site today they have signal up saying lease now office and retail available, with a picture.

Wow that's awesome. I may be mistaken but I don't really think you could see the stadium from there before.

Part of that becoming a Greenway inland was always going to happen, its just a question of how much. That area has a high risk for flooding as well as sea level rise. Im pretty sure that area use to be an old Creek back in the day that was filled it. I really don't like the idea of park space next to the interstate, too noisy. They really need to start evaluating alternatives for the the interstate redesign.

I am really hoping for some news on light rail at the state of the city. It's been about a year since the west side study. I thought they were in progress on the east side study? Seems like it's been awhile since we have heard any news.

I don't think the NHL is setting a 32 team max. I've heard alot of rumors that the NHL is open to pushing that number.

The trial for the arena is underway this week, and will last two weeks. Bob McDonald took three stand Monday defending the arenas side. He even stated that he was in negotiations with the NHL commissioner to bring a team to Hampton Roads. This is a really sore spot for me and I'm sure for most of you, but I am very interested to hear more of what happened. Anyone else catch the part about the 6 million dollars for a couple of moveable walkways? That is insane. Glad they are not putting them back in, people can walk.

I've seen the site plans for this alot of work has been done. I don't think the developer is pulling out. Back in November the city gave the developer back a substantial amount of comments when they marked the application for resubmital. So we should be seeing movement on this relatively soon.
