  1. i didn't know a damn thing before i came here. welcome.
  2. quick chop of what something would look like on that corner.
  3. Grand Bohemian Orlando has a solid look to it.
  4. I tweeted Ely about it. It could really be an awesome addition. The antithesis of value engineered out, this project would be super cheap and revamp a blighted street corner.
  5. Just a nice leisurely weekend stroll...
  6. I mean certainly they wouldn't just go screwing in light bulbs without regard to overall design? Then again, it makes no sense to leave a project half complete like this.
  7. More businesses moving to SouthPark? Simon may have something to say about that! God I hope Charlotte leaders don't cave to a stupid mall.
  8. not to burst your bubble, but affirmative action acknowledges and attempts to remedy the past's structural racism . . . with more structural racism. in today's hyper sensitive world, one could view it a paying respects to the past; others, like you, would see it as cultural usurpation. they're all just voices. a neighborhood got wrecked a long time ago to make way for newer development. how is that any different than your typical project nowadays?
  9. Hmmm . . . perhaps a traffic circle then? maybe some other traffic-reducing measures?
  10. ah. i think i see what you're saying. the renderings show a straight shot. the approved plans show a Y split (3-way stop), essentially. i think you're splitting hairs, though. instead of forcing drivers to choose left or right, make the lane straight for those that want to pass through he community while still making a right turn available. besides, what's the value of a 3-way stop? i assume plenty of extra construction costs to build two distinct structures as opposed to one.
  11. Does anyone know if they built a proof of concept for this deck screening/plants?
  12. I would hope that the architects surveyed the current buildings, and designed accordingly. I can't remember who, but someone on here has seen images, and is very impressed. It does pique my curiosity, though--how can they truly redefine and set the new structure apart?? This is why I'm not an architect.
  13. That'd be extremely surprising if there were images. Then again, I've never performed FOIAs related to development.
  14. You got it. I think the average opinion here is 625' lol. Stone masonry with a very impressive glass crown according to some on here. As for a plaza, I don't think that's been discussed. Add it to the wishlist.
  15. phased development through and through starting with the big tower and Tryon street mezzanine.
  16. Yeah there's not way I see this happening. A for effort, though.
  17. IDK who said this or what is meant by it. But if bonds were passed for this pedscape, then it's happening. could be an administrative/processing-type hold-up.
  18. 6 hours of saved flight time per executive? that's pretty damn good. query: how would convenient travel to S. Am. enter the equation?
  19. Hey at least it's providing an outlet for the SJWs who couldn't find an actual cause to support.
  20. I'd temper expectations lol. How do you guys not have charging stations in that deck? That's unacceptable on so many levels. Isn't there like a Go Green Charlotte lobby in town? They should be all over this. Their whole thing is infrastructure automation and lowering energy consumption, yet they can't get more charging stations around town.
  21. Isn't there supposed to be a new restaurant on 3d b/n Tryon and Church? That is well below grade in the renderings. As for FCB, if they could pull off a miracle on that corner, it would really connect the "dots" as far as that stretch of sidewalk is concerned. The ingress/egress from the Shomar's deck takes up a lot of real estate and the FCB mini-branch has a horrible aesthetic. This part of Church needs a ton of love, and construction problems do not appear any more daunting than any other adaptive reuse project around town. So, hopefully . . . nvm; not even going to speak it. After this is done, the section between 5th and Trade gets attention next.
