  1. Sounds like someone from Virginia Beach
  2. Flights to Canada would be really fun, would love a direct to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, hell even Halifax. Hopefully Jet Blue flights to there would also open up flights to other locales with them. Feels like the fact they're putting money into building a new International Processing Building is a good sign for the likelihood of at least some international flights heading in soon This airport is going to be unrecognizable in 5 years
  3. They did not beat us last year. Passengers Served 2022: RIC: 4,068,689 ORF: 4,115,537
  4. Norfolk already has direct flights to Portland! And I hear Maine is perfect in the summertime.
  5. Love seeing this year over year growth. It's crazy but 5M could be hit within a few years, which would be wild since we just crossed the 4M threshold in 2022.
  6. I just noticed a little addition to Breeze's Norfolk flights this morning that hasn't been announced yet, or at least that I've seen. How do y'all feel about Southern California?
  7. Saw that too. Don't think it'd preclude a third terminal since it would probably go in the green/grey space just above it. I just don't know why we need another parking garage, we already have like, 2 thousand spaces that weren't used during christmas lol. Maybe rental cars? (But so far away from the baggage claim?)
  8. I mean I would be surprised if every modern major military doesn't have at least a few maps and speculative strategies in regards to this area. Having the worlds largest Navy base will garner that kind of attention.
  9. Would love to have one of the Europe ones, but could see this area being an easy gateway into the Caribbean as well
  10. That crime happens in this city yes, but to say that it happens at every big crowd and is what stopped first friday's from happening is just plain wrong. Folks so often catastrophize Norfolk crime, and it's part of the reason why we don't have a nightlife downtown anymore. Pushing 'crime in downtown Norfolk is so rampant we can't even have a fun social gathering' is not helpful
  11. Also I'm pretty sure it was required since if I'm not mistaken this property is on a former McDonald's and was probably part of the terms of sale
  12. Also Chorizo freaking rocks it doesn't fit as a GameDay place but go grab a bite from there at some point it's great
  13. Just go to North Colley, which is closer to ODU and both big stadiums than this project. Dirty Buffalo, Cogans, and University Pizza all give that vibe. There's also Hank's, Elation Brewing, Reaver Beach, and that new Craft place. If you must be on campus, go to hair or the dog or mojo Bones. Other good food options include Del Vecs and P Franks
  14. It's also an overhead view from a render from a proposal that was made over 2 years ago. I've attached the 3D render from the proposal. And yea, those two pronged buildings look similar. But a) since they are more interspersed with the rest of the buildings it doesn't give it that same "soviet cookiecutter" style he's so worried about, and b) is a render that probably is just a stand in for an X-square foot building that doesn't look like a cube, and probably wouldn't actually be built out in that precise manner. Mint, my man, these renderings have been here for a while, why now for this very focused concern on these buildings?
  15. You mean, you don't want buildings around the arena portion? I have no idea wtf you're trying to say here
  16. Why didn't you just take a bike?
  17. Would love all of those. I've been hoping for a Utah connection for a while. Soon after graduating college I went on a road trip out there and it was absolutely beautiful, and would love for an easy way to get back to see it all.
  18. I mean, I don't like it, and have said as much. Right now we have this, the project near Chrysler, the potential development on the Greyhound plot and the potential development on the Church parking lot and if I remember correctly none of them have street level businesses, which to coin a phrase: "sucks" It's sad that City Council is so short sighted with allowing it. I also agree, density>height. Tall buildings are 'sexier ' but getting a good use of space and higher building density is much more important. Get a good set of building plots, and tall buildings can fill in later as property values go up.
  19. It's absolutely bonkers to me that you would think that folks that live downtown don't make up a "sizeable" pedestrian user group. Sorry that I would rather make life better in Norfolk for Norfolkians, rather than more convenient for Chesapeake or VB folks. Your rapid fire absolutely wild responses really feel like they're being made in bad faith to me.
  20. Oh yea I forgot about Brambleton, if we're gonna put Waterside on a road diet we should do the same to Bramby too. Would really help connect downtown to the arts district a bit more and make it more friendly to pedestrians
  21. Did they mention a timeline at all? Love the way it looks
  22. ? It looks basically the same. Maybe this render has less of a "modern" finish on the apartment complex?
  23. So you're saying empty store fronts are good?
  24. Scotty Quix announces they will not be reopening after being forced to close by the City. https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/norfolk/scotty-quixx-not-reopening-after-being-forced-to-close/?fbclid=IwAR0_8PKOkQDgXiDe93Forg8-chA_SfLxpJvQnhdyc1mBuTTIkuRYeaMiCvo
