  1. It sounds like SpartanNash could be a likely candidate. I have heard that Spectrum has been looking for a single building for their offices. That would leave a lot of vacancies all over, and does not seem likely given their recent move to Arena Station. New or outside companies, what about Kellogg? I have heard they are very interested in Grand Rapids. Would probably be quite a controversial move to leave BC, but who knows. I would think it would have to be a company that would benefit form the prominence and publicity of being in DT-GR, keeping in mind that the prominence downtown GR provides is really only regional in scope.
  2. • Corner offices: That symbol of prestige and status is has been replaced by conference rooms which encourage and reward collaboration. Communists
  3. Founders is releasing a one-off Michigan only Pale Ale called "Palm Reader." All proceeds will support the Grand Rapids Whitewater fundraiser "Tribute on the Grand" on September 10. Founders will also be doing a beer dinner on Gillette Bridge. Pretty cool. http://foundersbrewing.com/latest-news/2016/introducing-michigan-only-release-palm-reader/
  4. Wow, just looked out at this site a few minutes ago from the Campau Ramp and the Venue (monroe-side) portion is now almost completely enclosed with the walls. Big change in just 3 days. I will try and get a picture up myself soon. Fun to see the progress every day.
  5. I am glad I live south of downtown. On the news this morning they were talking about traffic being backed up to 10-mile . That is going to be a rough few months for morning commuters.
  6. I noticed and was wondering the exact same thing...
  7. That definitely gives some perspective and helps answer my question. Wow...anxious to hear more
  8. Its good to be in the popcorn business! In the mlive article linked earlier in this thread, Loeks says the project would demand 300 parking spaces. How much would the additional 700 spaces help with the downtown parking crunch?
  9. This is much closer to the mark. FP had numerous offers for 99 monroe without any public solicitation. They are in the business of property flipping, not being landlords. Selling these two buildings gives them the liquidity they need to move on to their next projects.
  10. I think you are overstating how inconvenient it is to hop in the car to get to mejier from downtown. From Rosa Parks Circle to Meijer on Alpine, it is 10 minutes. 12 minutes to Knapp's Corner. For people living downtown the draw is being close to restaurants and bars. Possibly working downtown as well, but of course many work in the burbs. Those are both faster/easier commutes to get groceries than for me to get downtown from my suburban house, and that is only a once or twice/week occurrence .
  11. Milwaukee has one in the neighborhood I lived in for 3-years. It was an easy walk to, and across the river, right to Lakefront Brewery
  12. I noticed and was thinking the exact same thing
  13. InBev has already started doing this and the feds are already investigating for potential anti-trust violations.
