  1. It looks as if the Milwaukee Bucks could move because the nba does not want the team to extend its lease past 2017. never mind my previous comment
  2. big development! building(s) up to 8 floors. http://landplanningsolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/davis-marina-village-800.jpg
  3. i think the courthouse issue was brought up recently and freemason is a part of downtown.
  4. finally there is a plan for another building with more than 3 floors off First Colonial. Looks nice too. The website for above building is a real estate site called cityfeet. more retail for the oceanfront.
  5. tower 1 i read somewhere is 212ft. tall. looking at the angle from the above pic., i will revise my guess and say 425ft.
  6. The old Cavalier will now be known as "Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront".
  7. i figured, but i wanted to show how much taller this is compared to tower 1. my guess 450ft.
  8. the former winn dixie farm fresh site near independence at haygood has a new plan. looks nice. http://www.loopnet.com/xNet/MainSite/Listing/Profile/Profile.aspx?LID=18835861
  9. in the link i provided, there a rendering i have never seen before of phase 2 but it only shows a portion of phase 2. It shows in full a rendering of the current (completed) tower. this is where you can find the pic in the link... Harbour's EDGE announcing Harbour's edge phase 2. pic is on the right of the text
  10. i found another rendering. Mayor-SOTC-Handout-2015v2-website.pdf
  11. the property it sits on i believe. has this ever been posted? http://wplsite.com/portfolio-items/pembroke-transportation-study/?portfolioID=3594 this looks to be the pembroke mall site as you can tell what looks like armada hoffler tower in the bottom right corner. http://www.clarknexsen.com/go/project-types/commercial-municipal/
  12. there is a new type of technology being developed that would allow track lights to turn from green to red from a emergency responders vehicle. problem is, that train won't stop quickly, and disaster if it does. vbfd brought the issue of being delayed. i'm sure they r not the only ones who have the issue. many other responders probably have this complaint as well. I used to be all for light rail until i read that norfolk's is the worst in the country in terms of ridership. i wouldnt mind my tax dollars going towards monorail and a an arena though.
  13. we need mass transit but light rail is way too expensive and it would delay emergency responders at small at grade crossings. monorail is not just for amusement anymore, would cost less, travel at the same speed, be fully overhead, and would carry the same amount of passengers. plus the city cannot pay for a widening of holland rd. between s. independence and lynnhaven because they dont have the money, the boulevard at independence, rosemont at the boulevard, and newtown at the boulevard (which is in va beach) need to be reworked, and the lights retimed. The money from the light rail project would have given these much more crucial projects a good start. They could also follow the current nationwide trend of getting rid of the cameras.
  14. hopefully pembroke 1 stays. i like the slender the core, the way it comes outward and holds up the rest of the tower.
  15. look up monorail on wikipedia. You would be surprised how large and fast some routes are. one is 17 miles and another is a 50 mph route. Streetcars are too expensive and the fire department and ems and police would have a hard time getting through at at grade crossings where there are non major roadways.
  16. I meant monorail like disney and vegas and moscow.
  17. I am not sure if anyone has already posted this, but here is a rendering of the Town Center Light Rail station. It is huge! http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/e3ef77f43a9861baa1f8bbb0761f5cb5757314e7/c=394-0-1156-573&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/2015/02/13/WVEC/WVEC/635594485281567483-ConstitutionDriveStation-UDA-PembrokeTOD-Rendering-4-.jpg
  18. My father knows Sifen. My father stated that Sifen's plan was to stack floors but had to go with the shopping center idea instead due to the down economy, so maybe this is what Sifen was planning before the construction of Towne Center Marketplace.
