  1. Man, why would they do that? They didn't seem shy about letting classic 19th and early 20th century architecture get replaced by parking lots and stand-alone fast food chains.
  2. They(developers) should fill in some of that with restaurants and shopping. Maybe a watering hole.
  3. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is quite as versed as I in these things.
  4. Be fair to the developer. It'll have a fin thingamajig on the roof.
  5. Not that I care about defending my statement, but just for the heck of it, imagine a lot of the shorter buildings between Sears and Hancock no longer being there. There are still really tall buildings, but the overall skyline would seem thinner and less breathtaking. Those shorter buildings don't actually contribute anything by themselves, but the skyline seems less impressive without them. Anyways, that's the positive spin that I'm trying to put on all these shorter hotels and whatnot coming to Nashville, now if we Tony Giarratana could get his Signature Tower we'd be in business.
  6. That's going to be an awesome view of downtown once everything that's under construction is finished. I was just trying to flex my mindceps enough to see j.w.marriot, Cambria, Bridgestone, 505, etc, and it was worth it....but now I need a smoke.
  7. Since when is 7 stories a high rise? Also, the plan seems to be blocked and they're calling that "support for our neighborhood". Isn't that actually sabotage?
  8. Is that more evidence that high rises aren't necessarily wrong for Nashville?
  9. I guess I used the wrong words. I still deplore every minute of sitting in traffic, but the fact that it's my company's gas and vehicle wear and tear softens it quite a bit. I'm completely with you though, sitting in traffic is worse than stepping on a lincoln log on a hard floor in the dark.
  10. Would there be a parking garage? Land in any of those places would cost a fortune and having huge parking lots similar to Nissan Stadium seems unimaginably impractical. In Seattle, the Mariners and Sea-hawks stadiums are right next to each other with adjacent parking garages and they take up about the same space as Nissan Stadium and its surface lot.
  11. I live in a Memphis suburb, but it's ok because I drive a company vehicle.
  12. Imagine what it'll look like with Cambria, Joseph, Crescent, Convention Center, Mazda dealership projects and I'm sure some more.
  13. So a condo tower like Buckingham isn't actually that far fetched because it's in demand.
  14. That's a hard thing to do. The money is where the bland vanilla mainstream musical taste dictates, at the cost of authenticity. This link illustrates the problem quite well; (NSFW - language)
  15. We're talking about the g'ment. I know there are many different faces of g'ment within our nation, but I can't help but think that, for the most part, they look at us as the unwashed masses who don't know our arse from a whole in the ground and we need to have our decisions made for us. They've become very, very disconnected from us ordinary citizens.
