  1. I hate to admit how much I'd love this...
  2. Fun Fact. There's a hidden Mickey Mouse head in that mural. Its underneath the rear wheel. I'll grab a picture when I get some time.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just the first google result for "soccer stadium" photoshoped into a picture of the skyline.
  4. MLS won't go for it, maybe if they build the stadium in the middle of Concord mills.
  5. The observer just posted this article about the Independence. Now I'm convinced Bruton Smith is just looking for a payday from the city. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/politics-government/article128763024.html
  6. MLS sounds awesome and frankly from what I've read, most opposed are opposed because of reasons not nessicarily related to the money (Eastland hard-liners, etc). However, I can't help but feel that Charlotteis getting shafted. If Bruton Smith is willing to play ball with the city and county and will work with them to complete a good proposal before Jan 31, awesome! However, I'm not %100 sure Bruton Smith is willing to negotiate a better deal. He has a history of trying to get the public to build for him and I think this was a play by him to line his pockets. I just hope of it doesn't work there's another chance in the future however it doesn't seem like there is. This project is the epitome of "damned if you do, damned if you don't".
  7. I'm surprised, the comments were a bit more tame then I expected. Only one real instance of just downright crazy.
  8. Part of me wants to see this happen. As long as they add a minion in there for good measure.
  9. Any public photos of the phase 2 render yet?
  10. I don't think Cinnabon is willing to take that risk.
  11. This is Charlotte. The Observer comment section types would lose their collective minds.
  12. According to the Observer, it's for Project Grenlight. It's some sort of veteran initiative. It will be be green until Jan 2. Edit: Was on mobile and couldn't get link. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/banking/article48588090.html
  13. Well because, "we don't want crime that Charlotte is ridden with, we don't want to pay more for the boondoggle the choo choo is, Just build another highway into town if need be. ps. Oppose I-77 toll lanes. Vote Larry Bumgarner for school board."
  14. They want to vote out people who support the I-77 project go ahead, but vote out the right people. Unfortunately those people are running for re-election next year, not this year.
  15. ^This. I'm a Belmont Abbey student so I see downtown Belmont a lot. A commuter line that would go to Belmont would be a huge benefit to the community. Frankly I don't know why a Gaston County commuter line isn't being seriously talked about.
  16. Richmond-to-Raleigh HSR plan approved Would this have any effect on NC or the city to get on the ball and build a Charlotte-Raleigh line or at least get into gear with Gateway Station?
  17. It makes sense though. Most of the Northern transplants (my parents and most of their friends) aren't coming from the cites up north, but the conservative suburbs . At least in my experience this seems to be the case.
  18. No it has been a lot speedier since the opening.
  19. Ugh of course. It gets crazy listening to the transit bashers in Iredell County but I digress. Hopefully the Red Line picks up steam though. It seems as Mooresvilles getting way bigger and hopefully has more power in County politics then it did a few years ago.
  20. I still have no clue why the hell Mooresville was left out. I know there was some issues with the town but If the Red Line would benefit any town, Mooresville probably would be the main place to benefit.
  21. If I'm not mistaken streetcars follow the same traffic laws as any vehicle.
