  1. Pinhouse is opening this Saturday in the old Midwood Cleaners building.
  2. Saw this last weekend, the dry cleaners in our beloved 129 w Trade building closed.
  3. I’m starting to wonder if McAlpine will reach South Charlotte before I’m too old to bike the whole thing
  4. So... did they approve the plan? Are we a GO for phase3?
  5. I went Sunday and got one last ride in. I’m gonna miss these rickety old things...
  6. Do we own the old Gold Line vehicles? Is there any chance they could be used on the other proposed line by the Stadium?
  7. Bird is also paying their chargers considerably less than they were when they first started. They used to be $5-$20 but now they’re almost all $3-$5, not even worth the trouble.
  8. I go to Pennsylvania at least twice a year to visit family. The elk herd there has created a crazy amount of tourism in the area around Benezette. Traffic backs up for miles during Rut season from people trying to get pictures. At least one person gets injured every year. Some of the elk in NC are transplants from the PA herd, supposedly.
  9. I like the two Targets on Rea Rd that are 2 miles apart. Maybe they could have built one Super-Target?
  10. I hopped aboard one of these around 3am Saturday night after my trip to Halal Cart turned ugly, I was the only person so I was able to stretch my legs out a bit. It was surprisingly clean inside.
  11. I think a Yardhouse would be fitting, but I’d love to see them move into the old Rock Bottom
  12. Personally, I like this building. It doesn’t really look like any other building in Charlotte. I do wonder about the fictional 3-story building between Tilt and this building (in the rendering). Was that there before they built it and they thought they had room for it to stay there? If it is fictional, did those little buildings on the other side of Church St exist? (sorry, off topic)
  13. The tram at McCarran in Vegas travels 2/3 of a mile in a couple of minutes. The pick-up/drop-off area at CLT is 1 mile from Wilkinson so it would take 3 minutes(?). If the Wilkinson Station looks like the airport on the inside, you won’t even realize it’s not a part of the airport.
  14. That would be cool in the old Theater!!!
  15. I see they’re demolishing the entire right section of the old Matthews Festival shopping center. The lights were on in the old theater though, are they saving it?
  16. Mind walking a few blocks west and getting some shots of the Polk building demo?
  17. About ten years ago, I used to get breakfast with 4 other guys my age every Friday at Liberty East. When we turned 25, someone proposed that we all go back to school. We were all kind of slackers in High School but we all applied at WCU as non-traditional students and I was shocked when we were all accepted! I didn’t go since I had already secured a sweet middle-management job at one of the big banks here, but the other guys DID go. I visited them often and I was really impressed with the campus then. On my way to the casino a few weeks ago, I drove through just to see what was what, and it was way different. Cullowhee has grown a lot in the last ten years but I was surprised how much it has changed in the five-or-so years since my amigos graduated.
  18. “Bird’s Guide to Charlotte” https://www.bird.co/blog/guide-to-charlotte/
  19. Just got an email from Bird, no riding or parking allowed in the area around the arena this weekend. I hope they post some signs
  20. Notice the phantom lane in the picture. I have to wonder if that has something to do with it
  21. I visited Cedar Point last year and I noticed that, despite being on a little island, the walking experience seemed much nicer. There is a huge midway from the main entrance straight down the middle with cable cars all the way to the Dragster. It’s a vast area surrounded on all size by coasters with a constant breeze. I did see that Carowinds is currently re-doing the area in front of the new Copperhead Strike coaster. They’re changing Wings to some kind of Country Kitchen and removing the games that were in the middle. They’re also renovating the Lazer Maze and Arcade that’s there. Hopefully they’ll continue these improvements all around the park in the future.
  22. I was thinking about paying the $25 just to walk the course so I could snap some skyline shots. How often do you have a chance to set foot on the interstate, besides emergency situations or “peaceful demonstrations”?
  23. I can’t believe how massive this thing is. When they announced they were building a hotel in that tiny park, I envisioned something tall/skinny. The footprint nearly takes up every bit of space they had!
  24. I mean, I’m not gonna hop on it at the Epicenter to hitch a ride back up the hill to Tilt if I gotta wait 15-20 minutes, THEN pay them $2. I could hop on a rickshaw or rent a scooter. Also, I was really excited that the Gold Line is going to connect JCSU, JWU, and CPCC to each other (and to UNCC via the Blue Line), but it won’t do any good if the students have to pay to ride it.
