  1. If they build enough Apartments, maybe we’ll get another station between Conference and Village Lake. A Sharon Forest Station would be awesome… for me
  2. I just noticed they're building a crapload of apartments on the section of Wallace Rd. that runs parallel to Independence from Papa John's to Toy's R Us / Circuit City. I found this site plan online for one of the complexes. If this is the actual plan, isn't it weird what they're doing to Pineborough... http://ww.charmeck.org/Planning/Rezoning/2019/170-185/2019-180 site plan.pdf
  3. Pizza Spiga closed their doors for the last time yesterday. They're moving at least some of their operation to NY Pizza and Pasta in Indian Trail, according to their social media.
  4. The new Bojangles got a fancy sign on a post with what looks like an LED board below it. I didn't get a chance to snap a pic, but they were installing it when I drove by around lunchtime
  5. The skyline is going to look awesome from the future Rooftop Bar, especially at night!
  6. https://charlotte.axios.com/285732/historic-east-charlotte-tower-will-get-a-makeover/
  7. McAlpine Creek goes right through Carmel Country Club too. I wasn't sure how that would work
  8. Where do they get these ridership numbers? Is it from number of tickets or transit passes being used, or is there some kind of counter that physically tallies up the number of humans that board the trains?
  9. So they're going back to the original Cook-Out model? That's pretty awesome. I guess our weather is nice enough most of the time... "Now all restaurants are Cook-Out"
  10. That's a boner-killer. I had a group of car-guy friends that met up at least once a week. We'd often sit in the front of the old Bojangles at Idlewild and Independence just so we could watch cars drive by. People test-driving Mustangs always put on a good show. The crappy replacement Bojangles doesn't even face the highway and I'm pretty sure you couldn't even see the road from where this new Bojangles is situated (if they had a dining room).
  11. The new Bojangles has been constructed! It seems like it didn't take very long, but it also seems to be a smaller store than the other one on Independence. They'll do well in the mornings with people heading into town stopping to grab a biscuit or a cup of coffee. The OLD one at Idlewild and Independence was always busy. I'm a little bit concerned about the number of accidents it will cause with people crossing two lanes to get to the little side street turn-off. It's very reminiscent of Exit 3A.
  12. I know right!?! I would drive the crap out of that train. ALL ABOARD!?!
  13. People were parked on the tracks last night so the Gold Line operators just laid on the horn. This went on for a few minutes. The cops had to go into Hooters and get the guy IMG_3367.MOV
  14. It looks like they fixed the YELLOW Bojangles.
  15. I used to ride a Ruckus on McAlpine and never got booted. I ride an old Mountain Bike down and back up McAlpine pretty often too. I would expect to pedal it the whole way down but probably use assist or all-motor coming back up (up-hill). It's not as easy as it used to be.
  16. I was thinking about getting a Super73 to mess around with on the weekends. I never thought about the battery thing. Maybe wear one of those over-the-shoulder fanny packs like the youngsters do.
  17. I’m not sure where to put this, but it seems TR Lawing has sold the Tryon House Apartments to some investors?
  18. You are right. We need to get this info out there before people try to call it “SoNoDa” or something stupid like that.
  19. Blue Line is operating on Sunday Schedule seven days a week until further notice, according to their Twitter
  20. How about the light poles on Independence near Briar Creek? It seems like there’s always one or two of those snapped off. Hell, someone crashed into the front of the old Merchandise Mart (now The Park Expo and Conference Center) not too long ago. I’ve also noticed a lot of cars failing to slow down in time at the Eastway exit lately.
  21. From what I understand, B&M Hyper and Giga Coasters can’t operate if it’s under 40 degrees outside.
  22. It looks like they’re building an Arby’s where the old Hooters was, between Sharon Amity and Idlewild.
  23. Charlotte Checkers are now aligned with the Florida Panthers, not the Carolina Hurricanes...
