  1. I think the shadows could be really cool with the shadows as the day passes, so I'm excited to see the final product. Perhaps we'll get more digital signage on the garage? Seems like it will be very large
  2. Last year Westside Rentals (920 & 934 44th Ave N) was purchased by Sunbelt Rentals. They are now moving. IMG_6342.HEIC
  3. Anecdotally, an STR a couple blocks from me now has a "For Rent" sign out; I'd be cool if the Nations had fewer STRs.
  4. While walking the dog this morning, a man who was stocking the shelves at Turnip Truck said they hoped to be open next week. He said their East Nashville location is getting slammed with customers.
  5. Pearl-Cohn has a pool; Whites Creek had a pool that's been filled in and is some weird sun-room type building. I've only ever been there for track meets when it's freezing cold, so I can't tell you what they do with it during the school day.
  6. Was there talk of a roundabout? This past summer I believe NES put markings on the ground for what I thought might be new poles, but (obviously) nothing has happened.
  7. Did the issue with the clause about the 10 acres reverting back to Metro if NSC didn't play for 24 months already get resolved? I seemed to recall the was causing NSC some issues with financing. If it's not been figured out, seems like that must be another lever of influence Cooper is using.
  8. Which is why you don't need to give those companies incentives to move to a place they want to be.
  9. I'm not sure how the location of the power source matters- typical power plants supply power to customers miles and miles away, which would count toward one's carbon footprint. Even though you aren't producing the carbon dioxide at your home, it's still "your" carbon. Of course, if you have natural gas, you are producing the CO2 at your location, but that's another thing. I'm not sure where if was, but at one point I lived in a place where the utility had "green energy blocks." You would pay an additional $4/month and "get" 500 KWh of power produced through solar or wind or whatever. Did I actually get *those* KWh? No, but I subsidized the utility to buy that energy from the producer. The grid was still 99% charged with the energy produced at the nuclear reactor or the coal-fired plant, so that's where I got "my" energy, but those purchases shifted, however slightly, the makeup of the energy portfolio.
  10. Not sure why the 2 light color panels have the thick side to the left and the thin side right, while the two darker sets are opposite. I hate the gaps between the colors- but maybe it'll be fine with all the panels in there.
  11. Right around there there's new houses going in (blue circles), but most excitingly the site circled in red has been getting cleaned up. I live just west of the train tracks and I have students who live off of 40th, so I hope it turns out well for their families.
  12. I can't remember where, but I read about the trend of stairs to nowhere. The Graduate at least has couches on stairs to nowhere.
  13. YES! This area is terrible. I coach cross country at MLK, and we end up running here because there are not a lot of good options for running form the school, and the Gulch is something to look at and Music Row is fairly pedestrian friendly. This section is the worst. We're running on the 4" curb trying not to fall into traffic. Fortunately, it's the better kids that usually get this far on our shorter runs, so they are used to city running, but still makes be a bit nervous.
  14. I walked through there a couple weeks ago, and there was brink stored inside. It could look pretty good. I'm not sure it came through in the pictures, but at 5101 Kentucky, they even painted door handles on the KY side.
  15. The people at 5101 Kentucky are really committed to their rendering! Those door s and windows are painted
  16. Totally makes sense- I don't have to walk by it at all. Also, I love xkcd.
  17. The finished product looks better than it did mid-renovation- a lot less prison. While the exterior is not beautiful, I'm sure the ground-level experience will be much more important for the patients and parents.
  18. I wish I saw your update on this Friday; I went over there Saturday thinking, "Surely that bridge is open." It's still not; but it was nice to get into the Cornelia Fort trails a bit.
  19. I don't think you do anything until Elliot Electric is out of there. Workers are flying down Georgia before 6 am, and then the trucks roll out before 7 am. They are big, old, dirty diesel engines, and they all line up right on that road idling, waiting to roll out. I'll be happy when they have found a new place.
  20. Sorry to quote a whole post, but I live within the frame, and I was trying to figure out what the "Catalyst Design Group" rectangle was. I didn't see anything on the development map- did I miss something? A couple weeks ago, there were white construction flags throughout the block and a half of open space, but I've not seen anything since.
  21. Or you let people into the golf course and high school next to the stadium to tailgate, which is what happens 8 weekends a year in Ann Arbor.
  22. To be fair, West End turning left onto Murphy Rd is awful, especially coming from 440. This will not make things better in the morning when people are coming to the development, but I can't see it change things as much on the way home in the evenings. Having a hotel there may actually spread those 4000 car trips throughout the day, which would likely help with rush hours. I imagine Bowling Ave will get more traffic as people attempt to avoid Murphy/West End.
  23. Tangentially related: I will miss the West End podium of Carmichael Towers- it definitely grew on me over the years. Now, the interior and the 4 towers, I'm happy to see them go, but the students are going to miss out on some great views from those upper floors.
  24. I think city council enjoys that the state capitol will now have an address of 600 Dr. MLK Jr Blvd. I know I do.
