  1. Saw this for the first time since early March and wow it’s really towering over the Levine wasteland now. Crazy to think there wasn’t much on this side of town before. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. As a CPCC student last summer they sent out a poll that seemed to have been testing support for a similar system to UNCC's. There's been no mention of it since then so I don't know how it ended up.
  3. I drive past it everyday to work so I looked it up at one point. It's separate from the city's attempt to rezone all land around light rail stations to TOD (19-102). A developer asked for it to be rezoned mostly TOD-CC and some TOD-TR. Looks like it got approved last month but I have no idea what they're actually planning to build there. This is the actual petition (19-081) https://charlottenc.gov/planning/Rezoning/RezoningPetitions/2019Petitions/Pages/2019-081.aspx
  4. Looks like we'll have a segregated bike connection between the LSC greenway and the rail trail on 6th St by the end of next month. Friend who lives along 6th says they already started ripping out all the parking meters. I didn't know they were trying to fast track this project at all
  5. I got a survey from CPCC as a student last week about this so it looks like they're going to get on board. I know most of the people I've seen on the gold line right now are students. They survey was pretty clear what their intentions were. "Would being able to use your CP ID as a pass on busses and trains interest you?" "What would be an acceptable transportation fee to use your CP ID on buses/trains?" etc. I hope they work it out quicker than UNCC did now that CATS has had experience doing it with 2 organizations.
  6. GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification), it’s the universal standard for transit data. It’s can be used for just schedule data or live data. CATS doesn’t provide a public feed in any form, Raleigh does. You can see what feeds are available by looking on http:// https://transitfeeds.com They need need to get organized. Why do they even have multiple apps to begin with. They should not be trying to reinvent the wheel and instead open up their data and do something like this https://transitapp.com/partners/transit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. The UNCC app. Is complete trash. It works. That’s as much good as I can say about it. CATS should just get the data and make real time API that companies can hook into. Let a company who’s entire focus is making apps do it. Boston MBTA is a great example of this, they just provide their data to Transit (it’s a descriptive app name but also hard to search for specifically) and let them do what their good at. I already use Transit to look at routes in CLT but it’s all based on schedule not live data. What CATS needs to focus on is getting a fare card system and keeping the system running. Every single one of the apps they have put out have been absolutely horrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. They stopped running revenue service after 12 but I still saw out of service trains go back and forth into the night Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I noticed they were looking rough last weekend. Wanted to take a picture but my train was pulling in. Hopefully they'll be back come spring.
  10. Not excusing their outrageous price tag but I'm sure when they designed this crossing they didn't expect heavy traffic and it's also near a station so trains are going to be moving slowly anyway. The fastest consistent speed I've noticed on the system is where this crossing is going and I'm sure CATS is going overboard both to keep up train speeds and to try to minimize accidents with the amount of traffic that crossing will get. All of the sidewalk crossings on Tryon that aren't near stations have pedestrian gates.
  11. I wish all the drivers were like this. I hate when they're trying to go and people clearly ignore the bell and keep walking, or the opposite, when I'm waiting to cross the tracks and the driver feels the need to crawl through as if I don't realize the train I just got off of is going to move.
  12. CATS app is complete trash (as are most first party transit apps, idk why they waste money building them), I tell everyone to use Apple/Google Maps or if they're riding more than once a month Transit which is by far the best transit app I've used, shows Trains/Busses/Scooters/Bikes (including Bcycle).
  13. I got it automatically by buying my monthly pass through the CATS app but I think I've seen the code on a Lyft ad by the entrance to the station to JW Clay. I assume it's the same at Parkwood, just look for the big pink poster haha
  14. I wonder why they don’t just single track or do this work over night. It’s also during the first weekend after UNCC starts classes... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Seeing this reminded me of this development. I was never expecting a 24 story tower but I drive past this sign all the time and I’m itching to see something built there. Has there just not been interest in it from any potential tenants? https://www.lincolnharris.com/Developments/Graphics/University_Centre.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
