  1. Apparently they heard you about the 10 minute waiting area, to be gone and replaced with a much larger cell phone waiting area more than doubling the amount of space. Also, new parking garage to be added on site. Article just appeared in The Tennessean.
  2. I would strongly disagree on the Nash Trash tours as these are comedy tours that are sold out at least twice daily and booked months in advance. The two women who run this are two of the funniest ladies I have ever heard and it is a major to do for thousands, written up in virtually every magazine about travel. It in no way embarrasses the city and in fact provides something different that you don't get anywhere else. If you have not been, you should and I am fairly sure unless you are ultra conservative that you would change your mind.
  3. I have to agree about United, the merger with Continental has been a mess for the most part as the systems apparently are very different and the workers don't seem pleased with the merger. I would especially say that their international is the worst of any of the airlines I have used over the years, with a return from Berlin right after the merger being nothing short of abysmal. The unfortunate part of international service is that virtually none of the domestic airlines can come even remotely close to the service on European airlines (Iberia being the exception), in my opinion. I can't fly first class but coach service on SAS, Air France, KLM, and British Airways are all superior to any of the domestic I have used.
  4. The entire area where Carrabbba's, Heads Up, and Love Shoes is supposed to be a multi story ( I've heard 3) Restoration Hardware. The Heads Up has to be moved by April I'm told.
  5. I am not a golfer and Top Golf is extremely well done and the one I have been to in Atlanta is fantastic. Great for families, business outings, groups and anyone can play, you don't have to be a golfer. Food is typical of sports bars, but not bad. Can't imagine why anyone would be against Top Golf going in on the East Bank where we have ugly warehouses, run down motels, etc.
  6. Thanks for the update on Stix, I was under the impression it was far closer to completion. Twenty Seven will really stand out as the ones already there are making an impression.
  7. I went by there yesterday and was actually very impressed. It appears about two thirds complete. Nice addition.
  8. I go by there frequently and the work seems slow at best to almost nothing happening. Not sure what is going on in that the Dillard's is coming out of the ground and started way after Southern Land's was finally re-started. Mayb just be that the hole is so deep for parking at Southern Land and of course it is a much larger project. At any rate, the Southern Land project is moving very slowly from what I can see.
  9. That is exactly what is needed and seems to make so much sense, just fail to understand how we can place so much emphasis on tourism, yet something this simple would make a huge difference in the look and feel without taking away the neon and honky tonk feeling/
  10. I really love this look and it would be a huge improvement...when is this supposed to happen?
  11. I do think a widened sidewalk and/or a median planted would be much improved over what is there. You cannot walk easily due to the crowds. Chicago is a great example of concrete planters with low iron fences on many of the major streets and it works and looks great. I do know that some of the Church St. planters have been damaged and can't understand how/why they do not keep them up and repair. If someone damages them for whatever reason, they are responsible and should be held accountable. Of course, the homeless do some damage and you can't get anything from them, but the city must have contingencies to repair and keep things looking good. I especially home they have plans to keep Stix on the roundabout and the new Ascend area safe and kept up to standards.
  12. I took some workers from Columbus Ohio there two weeks ago on a Tuesday night and they could not believe how alive and busy the crowds were. From my experience lately, crowded is the norm, just wish they would do some enhanced landscaping and rework the sidewalks to take in the area now using temporary fences. It could be really so much better. And why is there no landscaping on the Bridgestone Plaza, it it just a big concrete pad.
  13. I don't really know the details of this issue and whether or not it is the local congressional rep or not that could have helped pushed this through. I do know we had a number of years with two Republican Senators, both living in Nashville, in a Republican administration and wonder why there is no criticism there or is this just another partisan blame game. I know Congressman Cooper and he is definitely more of an introvert but I have never found him to be rude or disinterested. He has always had a belief that much of our deficit spending is due to pork barrel spending by politicians wanting to make themselves look good as opposed to doing what is right...i.e. if everyone else is stealing I guess I can. I read these posts often and just wonder why so many on here seem so unhappy, negative and miserable. We have wonderful things going on in this city and you would think we are living in Gary Indiana from way too many of the posts on here.
  14. A huge crane is up on Abbott Martin and Crestmoor for the new Dillard's. It seems capable of building a 10 story building but I'm not by any means a crane expert.
  15. While all of us feel we have many historic losses, it does seem way too many on this site focus on the losses and not the positives. Thanks Mark Hollin for brining something positive to this forum.
  16. No, they are talking about the space facing Broadway that houses offices and a police precinct which is badly underutilized. These talks have been on going for some time, this is not new and I mentioned I had heard about this at least 8 months ago or so from a very reilable source. It could be, if done right, a very interesting addition to the arena and the Broadway corridor especially IF anything ever happens to the old convention center space. With all of these possibilites, they must do something about the traffice down lower Broad from 5th Ave. to the river.
  17. I could not agree with you more. Part of it is that the Titans appear to simply be arrogant that people will come and endure the poor game day experience because it is the NFL. I have been a season ticket holder since day 1 and recently became a Predators season ticket holder, the difference in virtually every aspect of game day is night and day. I don't go to the games to eat or drink, but it is nice to have many food/drink options at the Preds games. However if you need to swap tickets the Preds make it as easy as possible, while the Titans basically won't do it. I hope the recent change in game day management will help the Titans but they have a long way to go.
  18. This needs to happen as well as taking Abbott Martin to Richard Jones and especially take out the ugly MensWearhouse.
  19. Lee Beaman has no shame and thinks because he has money, he can bully by using his money to influence for his and only his benefit.
  20. Yes, there are any number of one stops to Paris from Nashville including Atlanta, NY, Cincinnati, Chicago, Minneapolis to name a few. Surprisingly, there are actually very few European cities that are not one stops from Nashville and the connections are not bad, the prices are what most would consider to be fairly high however.
  21. Titanhog, I was referring to the Hayes building to be occupied partially by Gresham Smith.
  22. I am also aware from inside sources that this is a done deal, they are simply finalizing the details and design. Apparently some differences of opinion, but it is a go.
  23. Thanks for a positive posting. I understand that this forum is designed to let everyone have opinions, but sometimes the negativity makes me stop looking at it and there are topics I just won't read. I am in total agreement that many buidlings could be better, power lines are ugly and WE NEED MASS TRANSIT of some type and now, but the negativity gets old.
  24. I am not a golfer but have been to TopGolf in Atlanta and Dallas and they are great fun for anyone. The physical plant and building itself are impressive and will add a great new option for anyone and again I am not a golfer, but had a great time. This will be a big hit and provide another outing for groups or just friends/family to enjoy, including kids. I am certain you will be impressed.
  25. Passed through Birmingham yesterday on way back from Florida and did not see a single crane from the I-65 vantage point, making what we are seeing in Nashville clearly not typical of all of the Southern cities. There certainly could be some that were not visible, but you get a pretty clear look into the downtown Birmingham area. As a side note, ran into a number of people from all over the South at a meeting in Florida and as soon as you introduce yourself as being from Nashville, literally 100% say how they love Nashville and what a great city it is.
