  1. As it is a lot of admin space is being consolidated and medical serives are expanding into those sites. Idk how much say the city has but im intrigued to know their side. Definitely interesting if this is true.
  2. Off topic but I play in a neighborhood soccer league and our midtown team is called FC Brickyaat.
  3. A pedestrian crosswalk at Grand is needed and will definitely do well to slow down the traffic. The traffic from cars going west on Michigan turning north on College backs up to Union on a regular basis. I wonder what impact a road diet will have on this.
  4. I've always hoped that they would add cycle lanes to Michigan Street, and this seems like the perfect time. I did realize that there is no line painted along most of this stretch of road and most people drive in the middle anyways right now.
  5. Yep! It's pretty much like a futsal ball, I just didn't know if anyone else would understand that reference. I'm excited to play it again, it was always a lot of fun. I do wonder if they really need 2 of them though.
  6. I've played it only a handful of times, the ball's used were heavier and definitely less bouncy compares to a regular soccer ball.
  7. I was always under the impression that they were going to continue the 3rd lane so it doesn't cause the bottleneck after the Ottawa exit.
  8. I've always known it as Foot Pool. I don't think there is an official name though.
  9. I actually got married in that space 5 years ago, back when it was the breakfast area and not an event space. I'll be really sad to see that space change.
  10. I wonder if there is any plan or real demand for a ramp going the other way, from eat bound 196 to North/West 96.
  11. I don't like the back of the building, it has a very unfinished look. The front however is quite unique.
  12. Especially with the land right behind the arena not developed yet.
  13. They should at least look into turning Ionia into a bike path if they were planning to use it as a service drive for the parking lots.
  14. I am really confused by that map. What happens to Ionia ave? It seems like you are forced to go on to 196 West or Division Ave.
  15. It's still kinda weird to see a skywalk to such a small parking ramp, however this still remains a very exciting project.
  16. Probably the same for Spectrum Employees too
  17. The whole idea is to introduce alternative modes of transportation to aleviate the stress on parking. Not everyone needs to drive downtown and park and i think that is the main point. People who are not on the bus line, don't take the bus line, uber or use lyft, people who live further out by all means drive your car and park downtown and people who have a bike and enjoy biking, ride that downtown and make use of the new bike facilities. By introducing all these options the hope is that less people drive downtown, but I don't think it is expected by one minute that everyone is suddenly going to be biking downtow or taking the rapid. Might be an unpopular opinion but I just think more ramps leads to more people driving downtown, leading to more congestion and just unsustainable development in general.
  18. I have always viewed this as an issue for the Silver Line. I live in Midtown and work downtown, there is nothing at the other end of the Silver Line worth riding for. I have jumped on it a few times while getting around downtown and enjoyed that convenient aspect of it.
  19. I have noticed a lot more people along Michigan street waiting for the #19 as well which is nice to see. I've heard of several employees who now take other bus routes to work, who never really knew the option exsisted before the #19 became their mandatory mode of transport to the parking lot. Regarding having lost on the westside, I won't be surprised to see this happen once the Laker line takes shape.
  20. I thought they couldn't stay open past midnight because they moved to the north side of wealth and became part of the Cherry Hill district, or something along those lines. At least those were the rumours when they moved. I have to say, I miss their old place.
  21. Businesses have been skeptical for sometime if downtown GR can sustain a grocery store, and have only now decided to take the risk. What made people think downtown Ada was a good idea?
  22. Not to change the topic of the thread but I have had this discussion with a lot of people. I wish buiness in GR put more emphasis on outdoor seating. I feel like a lot of patios in GR are very basic. Look how well Outside Coffee Co has done with their unique setting, and thanks to those domes it can be enjoyed year round!
  23. I didn't even know Grand Rapids MI exsisted in 2009! There is one thing I have wanted since I moved here 5 years ago that hasn't happened yet, and that is for the big parking lot on Fulton and Market to get developed. I didn't even bother putting it in my prediction this year, I think we'd see the rapids back in the river before movement on this site.
  24. Looks like there is a survey going around with regards to the Chicago Drive bus/rail service. https://hope.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cuukAXzJRFeB0P3
