  1. I remember hearing a year or two ago that the plan was to put a water park/theme park in that area, but my understanding was it got scrapped. If I recall correctly, something about a falling out between Dolly Parton and another financier or something like that. I could be remembering this all wrong. It would be nice to get something going here again...
  2. Given some of the previous posts in recent days, I can't tell if I'm looking at innuendo here or not....
  3. I was recently at the Avenue in the boro and noticed accross the street, off Robert Rose Dr, construction of what I could only describe as a community of all brick rowhouses. Seems a bit out of place in city like Murfreesboro, but it got me to thinking: That area around the avenue is prime for development, how nice would it be if they focused on creating a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, with parks, a grocery store (maybe even a new target), shops, bars and dining, etc all within a highly walkable radius. It makes a ton of sense for the area, which, unfortunately, tends to be a surefire indicator around here that it WON'T be done. Does anyone in the area have any idea on what the ultimate plan for this area is to be? The only leads I could find on the rowhouse community leads me to lifestylecommunities.com, which also seems to indicate this will be an apartment complex, not condos/individual homes for sale. A bad start, if so, but who knows?
  4. Yeah, I used to come in to work that way every morning before I started working from home. That is a pretty nice view too, especially early in the morning when the sunrise is illuminating everything.
  5. I don't know if this has been touched upon yet, but I came accross this today and thought it was interesting that the state can pony up money for this, but not for transit solutions for the city. Granted, we're talking about a considerably smaller amount of money here, but I think the principle of it still warrants discussion. It certainly says something about priorities, anyway.... http://www.memphisflyer.com/SingAllKinds/archives/2014/05/16/nashville-is-returning-to-nashville-to-the-tune-of-55-million
  6. I've always thought the money shot for downtown is the view from the 40 south loop, right there by the Science Center, yet it is almost NEVER seen in media of any kind. Google image search Nashville and it's page after page, almost exclusively, of the cliche ATT building shot from the pedestrian bridge, as you mention. I HATE that view, it obscures virtually all of the density of the city behind that one building which also dwarfs every other building from that angle as well, making it appear like a tiny city with one actual skyscraper.....ugh, indeed.
  7. ^^^ Ok, I know I've just got to be looking at this wrong, but that shows the MCC clearly, but I can't for the life of me see Pinnacle or the Encore? edit- Nevermind, I think I can see them now, although you kinda have to look for them by their shadows. Interesting view from that angle.
  8. Ah, well that explains that. The term "deck" gave me a mental image of something above ground. Thanks!
  9. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/2014/03/downtown-raleigh-high-rise-building-all-set-to.html Excellent news. Also confirms planned to open within 13 months. I have a question for anyone in the know, however: The article states it will be built over an existing parking deck, although the rendering doesn't appear to reflect this. Can we expect that the height on this may be greater than the impression given in the rendering? That rendering is quite old from what I understand. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting the render, but that would be a nice little added bonus
  10. I'm new here myself and can safely say this is one of the most active and informative urban development forums on the web. Certainly the best concerning Nashville. If you are anything like me, checking this site will quickly become part of your daily routine! To bring things back on topic, it has been awhile since we have heard anything regarding Sheet Music. Does anyone in the know have any new info at all?
  11. That rendering looks really sharp. Hopefully the ball will get rolling on this soon. Unfortunately, that picture appears to have been taken off the JDavis website. Hopefully that is not a bad sign...
  12. I think it would take more than a modest property tax to raise the dough for the kind of relocation I'd want. I'm thinking a rocket to be fired into the sun...could be a kickstart for a Tennessee Space Program?
  13. I would take confirmation of ground breaking on this as big news. Certainly if they actually get it started before the end of the summer, which would mean it could top out before year's end. It's not the Sobro or Sheet music, but if it really is a done deal, I am certainly pleased. Are floors/height in feet estimates still up in the air for now?
  14. ^^^ I agree, even in a city without the economic and urban growth Raleigh is experiencing, there should be a level of expectation for what is acceptable and not acceptable for the downtown core. That looks no different from any other non-descript hotel off the interstate in some Midwestern state. Speaking of, I have been curious, and forgive me if this is common knowledge, but does the city have any future plans to extend the interstate through the downtown area? It seems to me with the recent influx of business and population that will surely follow, it will become a neccessity sooner than later. The structure of the interstate in the region currently seems like it was designed to service the suburbs. Also, I'm sure this is a pipe dream, but does anyone think there is any chance the Hurricane's arena could be moved into the downtown area? Imagine how much that would have spurred development in the city if it had been located there to begin with.
  15. I know it's still very early in the designing stages, but I am curious to hear how this will be implemented with the Renaissance Hotel, which if I'm not mistaken is connected to the old CC?
