  1. Where did you get this stat? Just curious
  2. I was by the Sycamore site the other day and they are well on their way. They have gutted the inside of that building and are moving along at a good clip.
  3. True, but God knows that there are plenty of surface lots around it between there and Uptown that are prime for office development....
  4. Agreed, although I would love to see a retail space on the Gateway project.... I have hope that Plaza Midwood will continue to see these smaller infill projects, IE: Nook, Eddison, Plaza 25, Gateway Homes, ect... as opposed to the mega block apartments that are blowing up all over South End. Not that I have anything against South End, I just don't want to see Plaza Midwood become so homogenized on a development level. Its distinct character and neighborhood scale are the main things that attracted me to the neighborhood in the first place.
  5. once the tracks pass the university entrance on Tryon street the they descend below grade and veer right, underneath the outbound lanes of Tryon. When the train gets on campus it will run on an elevated track through a wooded area of campus near the football practice fields and over the campus greenway/trails until it gets to the terminus station.
  6. can we really call the NC laws "modern".....?
  7. Usually yes, however the footprint of 1100 is much larger than that of Summit & Church and includes 4 internal courtyards so they may need the increased reach of a tower crane to reach across the site.
  8. Agree. I was at Pint on Friday evening and it was a great environment, not too pricey and i loved their space out back. Gonna be a great spring/summer spot for sure. I did not know that they served food though. I will have to give it another try sometime soon.
  9. http://www.southendleasing.com/1616info/ Yeah, two sides will be open Deck, but the only views of those sides will be for those living in the Park & Kingston Apartments and from the parking lot behind Price's Chicken and that office building on the corner of Camden and Park. So if the sides of the deck have to be open, at least they're looking inward on the block and not on the street or rail line, like so many of the existing decks in South End.
  10. Central Ave Bridge over 277 - 74?
  11. Now if we can only get a major retail (soft goods) conversion for the other side of the BofA plaza along Tryon then the Square can really start to become a destination rather than just a landmark....
  12. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/real_estate/2014/02/greystar-exploring-26-story-high-rise-next-to-bb-t.html if it is true mixed use than this is pretty exciting, but the link to their similar project in VA isn't all that appealing from the outside IMO... But either way bring on the Ballpark neighborhood!
  13. God i hope not, that would be my station....
  14. They moved down the street to a new facility beside Mac's
  15. This is Third Ward looking right where the Ballpark and Romare Bearden are today
  16. Does anyone have images on the signage and stone gateways? I have not seen them before but it seems that from this thread some images/renderings exist somewhere.
  17. the ease/beauty in the blue line is that so much of it was/is in existing right of way. The amount of property that would need to be acquired would be immense and therefore very expensive. The best hope for a LRT line going east would be an elevated system in the median of Independence blvd, replacing the BRT lines.
  18. yes it is primarily offices.... And the big stink is that this City has a well deserved reputation for short sightedness when it comes to tearing down our older buildings and infrastructure. We are in the situation we find ourselves in now Uptown, in regards to having practically no consumer goods retail, because we tore down anything that is now considered structurally attractive and conducive for retailers big and small. These buildings are out of place now because our bulldozer drunk city at one point tore down all that was around them and they are now extremely rare.... There is a few like them on Brevard at the Arena, Brevard at Third Street, and a few peppered along North Tryon street. There are more than enough vacant or underutilized pieces of property in almost every Ward Uptown, but a Trade street address has cache....
